So I threw on a tee and found it has no alpha mask and no auto-alpha script (and it's no-mod, so I couldn't put one in). No problem, I thought, it's worth a texture upload to get an alpha for it and it's easy enough to make an alpha.

Except I can't 'demo' it. I distinctly remember that I used to be able to locally upload textures to try tattoos and alphas in the past, to make sure it looked right before I uploaded the texture, not sure if that was before we got SSB. But right now the result is that I'm grey.

Tried it both at 1024 and 512, and as both .jpeg and .png, with no different result - so the only reason I can think of that it isn't working is the server-side baking, which .. Sucks, if that's now just broken and that we'll have to upload multiple textures to make an alpha mask.

Anyone got a work-around, or should it work and I've just mucked something else up?

To test local textures on wearables, you have to keep the editing window open.

If you close it, and the sim tries to bake your tattoo with a local texture, it will fail because the sim can't see textures on your computer. (And you'll get that grey bake.)

   Oh, that works, thank you!

Doesn't work with the alpha directly for me, but it works with a tattoo, and so I can at least get an in-world visual of where I'm painting the alpha.

It should work, but just to make sure: is your body explicitly in alpha mode: masking? If it's in an opaque mode, it's going to ignore the alpha channel.
