MyKelti Trill Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Hello! So I am wanting to play my own music stream and be able to speak on voice as well. There is a church in SL that I have attended where the pastor is able to stream his music but when he is ready to talk he activates a separate stream that we (the congregation) can accept so we can hear him speak for preaching. He also can connect his music back in after he finishes preaching to allow the music to play again. I do not know if he is using DJ software or there is another way to do this but if someone is a DJ or is into music streams, PLEASE let me know! Thank you for your feedback!
Aethelwine Posted November 23 Posted November 23 (edited) The normal free software people use would be Mixxx. With it you can use a microphone as an input and broadcast your voice as well as music and mix the volumes in and out. I don't know why your preacher is using seperate streams one for voice and one for music. All I can think is he is using SLVoice for his voice and using Mixx (or similar) just to stream music? If he is then it would seem to be a slightly odd way to do it, but if it works I guess that is all that matters. https://mixxx.org/ Edited November 23 by Aethelwine 1
Gabby Pixelbottom Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Mixxx is a great way to go as it's both free and there are a lot of sources of help getting set up. Just search the web for Mixxx and Second Life. If you don't have one you'll need to rent an mp3 stream as well, there are many providers and most will include help for getting set up on Mixxx. My partner is a DJ and her stream costs L$500/mo. but there are cheaper ones out there depending on bit-rate and number of listeners.
