When you buy items do they cost the same as real life money!?

Items you purchase in SL or on Market Place are paid with the SL currency (L$ or Linden dollars) which by Linden Lab's definition are "tokens" with no monetary value.  I'm sure there's a legal issue that LL has concerns about for making that distinction.  There is, however, some real life monetary value to the L$'s because you can sell them on the Linden Xchange to other residents for real money.........presently (and for quite a long time) the exchange rate is approximately L$250 to $1.00 USD.  So that item you buy in SL or Market Place that costs L$250 is approximately equal to $1.00 USD.
