Prokofy Neva Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Without stating any names or locations, recount your ARs that "go nowhere" despite multiple people filing them over time. Would it do any good to create a repository of such cases? I would start one if there was interest. I'll go first. All week, my tenants, neighbours and I have been battling one of those grief cubes in the sky spewing obscene photos. The owner and previous owner of the grief cube remain in the People List and the cubes are still there, although some of us have been able to get them off our land (they are on physics, and roll on to our land). There are several no-show neighbours with no autoreturn on where they are piling up and spewing over 3-4 sims. It's in the sky, so it isn't seen by as many people unless they have skyboxes. So all the usual things have been tried -- more than a week goes by, they are still there. Why do people leave autoreturn off? This person has a large public garden for riding and such, but that isn't enough of a reason. They could have autoreturn even 30 minutes or something. Meanwhile, we just keep ARing.... 6
Orwar Posted November 19 Posted November 19 As far as I can tell, none of my ARs have ever resulted in any action. The ones I can remember off the top of my head this year include two counts of sexualised underage avatars in advertisements at shopping events, and one count of a toddler avi in an Adult-rated shopping region. The adverts weren't dealt with before the end of their respective event rounds, the toddler avi is currently online and so .. I'll just have to assume LL have no interest in policing their child avi policies. 12
Midnoot Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Almost none of mine seem to have ever done anything either. I don't do many, but I've reported ILLEGAL art which the cRimInaL sCOOm seemed to only get a slap on the wrist and came back the very next day with the CRIME art, simply removed from sight and replaced with something more vanilla. 1
Midnoot Posted November 19 Posted November 19 (edited) I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that LL is being EXTREMELY lenient with their dwindling user base, terrified of losing more than they can afford to lose. God has left us. Or resources are spread THAT THIN, showing just how bad it really is at LL? 🤔 Edited November 19 by Midnoot 3

Or at least I did when I posted about AR-ing something similar. You'd think they'd be happy to keep the creeps out but nope. And by the sounds of what you aid, LL doesn't really care about this anyway despite the promises we heard from them months ago. 4 2
Rowan Amore Posted November 19 Posted November 19 They also said that simply being a child in an adult area wouldn't necessarily rate as bannable. IIRC, they were at a shopping event? They may have received a warning and 'reeducated' about the rules. 5 2
Qie Niangao Posted November 19 Posted November 19 I don't think they're being lenient, but rather there's just nobody left in Governance to do the work anymore. It's a problem because the Land staff aren't permitted to do anything that's in Governance's portfolio (which is probably the only reason any Land work gets done), but in lieu of any visible effort by Governance the value of land just keeps degrading with neglect. Granted, the response to these issues was never good, but now there's good reason for it to suck. This part, "the cubes are still there, although some of us have been able to get them off our land (they are on physics, and roll on to our land)" is familiar, although the idea of them being both physical and in the air is a little confusing. They could be set to neutral buoyancy, I guess, or maybe there are static, non-physical ones that rez physical versions to spread across the landscape. Anyway, that's exactly the right approach: launch the physical ones into somewhere with autoreturn (or if your aim is good enough, onto your own land to return manually). I have on rare occasions actually wiped out whole infestations—I scripted a device that pushes a selected physical target with an enormous force—but usually there are those non-physical stragglers that eventually refill the space with crap. 6

A toddler avi in adult land not being actioned is pretty egregious. As for myself numerous AR's of adult content in General sims, the most high profile of cases being a group joiner in London City that showed naked breasts. It was there for 2 weeks and no action was taken although the resident did eventually remove it after it went viral so to speak on the forums. 1 hour ago, Ingrid Ingersoll said: Careful, you'll have the forum's child avi AR police brigade after you. WeFlossDaily Posted November 19 Posted November 19 I received a e-mail in response to the only thing in world that I felt needed to be ARed. I'm assuming that meant LL took my report seriously. 2 1
Rat Luv Posted November 19 Posted November 19 I've seen lots of people threaten to AR others for really silly reasons...like rezzing a prim too close to their build in the sandbox, or riding a lawnmower on a racing track (those are real examples!)...so I wonder if the AR system gets clogged up with trivial issues? But I don't know, really... One time, we all AR'd someone who was disrupting a RFL event with Cosby cubes and they disappeared in minutes, but maybe that was due to 18-20 people AR'ing at the same time? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But doesn't sound like that's working for OP... 3

Anastasia Loxingly Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Last few months have seen slower AR resolution it seems. A large vehicle combat group is still dealing with a griefer that rezzes pornographic prims on mainland and impersonates group owners to trick people into rezzing and object that mass spawns the prims too, takes about 4 days for the prims to be cleaned up and the account banned. But he keeps making another. 1
Perrie Juran Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I am not going to engage in a discussion of the merits of the complaints here but am only saying this in general. An Abuse Report has to be actionable. It has to contain certain information and meet certain criteria in order for it to be acted upon. Several years ago Inara Pey did a wonderful write up on the subject. https://modemworld.me/2017/03/24/raising-abuse-reports-in-second-life/ https://modemworld.me/abuse-reports-category-notes/ In my years in SL I have not filed all that many ARs but I have seen two accounts "vanish" so I am pretty sure it happens. 4 1

You can call yourself what you want , but you're not going to force me to call you it as well. :3 Also, thinking about the actionable reports , this was definitely actionable and had full picture proof of illegal activity and yet .. lol. . account still here , but they did change the art so they must have been warned ... But demn... This was the kind of stuff that ends careers in real lyfe ... So a slap on the wrist ? Looool. For deliberately choosing to display that kind of art in public land . Not even a suspension if that's even a thing. . Just "change it now " Edited November 20 by Midnoot 2 2
Madi Melodious Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I know of one youtube troll that has been AR'ed dozens of times for multiple TOS violations, including stalking, harassment, and impersonation, as well as violations the taking video without permission. I just checked an his account is still active in SL but his youtube channel is gone. To which he thought I had something to do with so he left me a veiled threat in IM. To which I also ARed and nothing came of it. 2 3

Ziggy Starsmith Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I used to be a premium plus member and requested my dream houseboat location. I got it the next day with very fast service however the very next day a woman moved in to the houseboat beside me and had rezzed a massive structure and deck which was floating in the air above the boat and some over my boat. I left it for a week thinking a new person mght be needing help to decorate with it etc but no one was ever there so I reported it. Nothing for a week, reported it again, ignored. A month later combined with this PBR drama I got fed up and gave up my dream boat house and went back to basic account and will never upgrade again. What a waste of time and money so now I am living "free" with a basic account and rent a place in Second Norway where issues are dealt with professionally and withing an hour or less. To this day that deck is still floating in the air, no one home there and looks abandoned. Making a report seems absolutely useless. Not worth the bother... 2 2 4
xDancingStarx Posted November 20 Posted November 20 (edited) I had once gotten harassed by a neighbour in the form of certain objects on their land. I was able to include text chat proof of the targeted harassment in the AR. Governance had stepped in very quickly. Just to counter the claim that filing ARs is useless. And yes, I've also filed other reports, mostly of relatively lower importance, that seemingly weren't acted upon. Edited November 20 by xDancingStarx
Clem Marques Posted November 20 Posted November 20 (edited) I used to own nearly 1/3 of the Behling region, in Kama City. I absolutely loved my land there, and lived on it for years. One day, someone rented a parcel at the center of the region and built a huge AFK sex club in the sky. That resulted in 23 avatars being there at all times. Annoying, but bearable, and nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to adult regions. But then a different person bought a parcel in Behling and decided to use it as a place to display "dead" avatars. She had 15-19 avatars in her home at a time, almost all of them with "R.I.P. (something)" on their display names, posing in her house. They were online 24/7, staying in the same positions, clearly AFK or bots. Those 2 inconsiderate neighbors ruined the experience for everyone else who lived in Behling. With all of those AFK avatars present, the region constantly reached the 42 avatar limit, which meant we literally could not access the land we were paying for at all. We weren't allowed to enter the region because it was full all the time. If I was lucky enough to get in there, I was still unable to bring my then wife home with me, or to be visited by friends on my parcel, due to the avatar limit being fully reached again. My land was rendered completely useless, after spending all that money on it, and living there for so long. I filed ARs about the situation for months. Absolutely nothing was done about it. I filed a support ticket explaining the situation and begging for help, and I was completely ignored, just told to file an abuse report. I'd already done that several times. I got tired of paying for something I couldn't use, and got tired of getting no customer service at all. After months of trying to keep my house, and it being almost always inaccessible, I gave up and sold every single parcel I owned in Behling. I drastically lowered my tier and moved elsewhere, because now I know that if my land is ever rendered unusable due to bots, I will get no assistance. Edited November 20 by Clem Marques 4 10
