When I order a new region, it is ready within 24 hours.  But when I buy a region from another user, the transfer time takes 3-5 days.

Why is it like this. It's not fair, because the late delivery of the region makes me lose money.  Linden lab gets the Tier on the day

ask them, this is just a forum

There is someone like you in every forum, if you don't know, don't write. The reason I write on the forum is that maybe there is someone who knows, I sent the same question to Linden Lab.

From the page on region transfers, it says this...

Buyers using PayPal need to have their PayPal agreements set to a high enough spending limit. By default PayPal limits are relatively low.

Private Region transfers may take up to 5-10 business days from the time both tickets are received.

There are 2 tickets that need to be verified to complete a transfer as opposed to one region purchase.  Lots more parts to consider.

All the above conditions are met, the ticket numbers match and the limit is sufficient.  I just don't understand why it takes so long.

Thank you for the answer.

Thank you for the answer.

The internal workings of the transaction are only known by LL.  With a region purchase from LL, it's just you, LL and your payment info.  With a transfer, it's you, the other resident, LL, your bank, the other residents bank, Linden dollars, RL payment info.  As I said, many more points to verify and move around.  Your 3-5 days seems faster.than LL estimates so count your blessings?

You really can't get a definitive answer here as no one is privy to how LL works internally.

I've been thinking, and "perhaps" (just "perhaps") if a Private Region is being "purchased" and there are no special requests or considerations, the process may be "mostly automated".

Whereas, for "transfers" of Private Regions, the entire process would require manual intervention.

But as you say, "only LL knows for sure".  Asking us will only get answers like ours! 🙂

ETA: Good luck getting an answer to "Why?" if the question starts out, "It's not fair!".

Excellent point.  The Buy page for Private regions bypasses Support completely.  The Transfer process involves 2 support tickets which first need to be set together with the same support person?  Is that support person working primarily with land transfers or do they have other support obligations?  Was the transfer request made on the weekend or bank holiday?

When I bought my homestead, as a Premium Plus member, I had to raise a support ticket, but it was processed overnight - and as you say the process would have been simple.

I thought it was quite fast and efficient.

Personally, I am not sure I understand why one would buy a region from another avatar rather than from LL directly, unless you were buying an established region to keep it like that. After all, my set up fee was only $40.

I'm going to put my money on "buying" a sim from LL being automated and transfers being manually implemented. Two reasons I think that is the case.

1) When I bought my full sim it was available within an hour, much to my surprise. There is no way that was a manual process.

2) I'm a premium plus member and the fastest I've gotten a response to a ticket is a few hours. It's usually longer, and if it's a ticket that requires some back and forth between me and the CS person, each cycle can take up to 24 hours.
