Cristiano Midnight Posted November 16 Posted November 16 I have an account from 2002 that is my original SL account. I signed into it just now for the first time in awhile and it has a -27,000L balance. The last time I checked it had a -25,000L balance. How does this happen? 1 1

It has been this way for awhile - though the drop to -27,000 is new - it was at -25,000 in the past for quite awhile. I removed the account from my land group a long time ago - I figured that was what initially caused the negative balance, but it has gone down since then. I went onto the account to look at it because its 22nd rezday is Dec 19th. I was surprised the negative balance had dropped further.
belindacarson Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Better off filing a ticket and asking support, or ring the billing line. 1

The reason why it happened was because he was listed as one of the "owners" in a group that had several parcels. The parcels had "show in search" enabled, which means my alt was being charged 15 L$/week per parcel. Since he had no money, his balance soon dipped into the negative values, and it kept going further and further down. That's the only way to have a negative L$ balance that I know of. Quit all groups and file a support ticket, if you have doubts regarding the origin of those charges. I agree with @belindacarson's recommendation. 2
Luna Bliss Posted November 16 Posted November 16 (edited) Yeah, this happened to me too...an alt had a negative balance of over -30k. I found out when I decided I wanted to develop her a bit, outfit her, so I sent her 15k in preparation and the money vanished into the void as my balance dropped from -30k to -15k. Should have filed a ticket. Edited November 16 by Luna Bliss 1

The parcels had "show in search" enabled, I have an alt in this exact situation. He's an officer in the land group with one lot (my store) set to show in search and is set to share funds. I send him a couple Lindens every few months to keep it from going too far in the negative. I should probably just remove the share funds option, but I never remember. 1

Artorius Constantine Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Dangit, making me be all responsible and stuff. 3
Prokofy Neva Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Search ads @ 30L/week. If any parcels are checked off to be in search, then they will have this debit. It shows up weekly, and then starts over anew so you may not hit it on a day when you can see the debit even though it is accumulating. 1
Bree Giffen Posted November 16 Posted November 16 The SL Marketplace also charges you for advertising. It's hidden away somewhere in the Marketplace settings. I must have turned it on back when I started and only found it recently. It was debiting my balance for a small amount over several years. 1
Honey Puddles Posted November 16 Posted November 16 (edited) Check your "Classifieds". I had this happen with one of my most beloved store accounts (Ironically named Accounting Binder). I had a couple of classifieds set up for the store, and would get pinged every week or month or whatever for the bill. Back at the time, I guess I must have assumed (reasonably) that if I didn't have money in the account, SL would delist the classifieds. Then I could stick money in the account when I wanted to reactivate the listings. Didn't work like that at all, and at one point I was thousands of L$ in the negative on that account. I shut off the classifieds as soon as I realized the cause... then I just mothballed the account, because this negative balance meant I couldn't even take that account to go get a 'free head' if it cost 1L$ to 'buy', even if that 1L$ was refunded. I eventually decided to just set up a script to send L$10-30 a day to it, something that wouldn't really be 'felt' in the grand scheme of things, the idea being that within a year or so, it would be paid off. But at the scale described by OP, I'd say it's definitely 'support ticket' time. Edited November 16 by Honey Puddles 1
Coffee Pancake Posted November 16 Posted November 16 This can also happen when governance reverse transactions.
