Custom Script for Group Discount

Hi,

I posted in another thread about my search for a Group Discount Script and after a search on MP I found that most of those available seemed to require the item for sale to group owned. Which is NOT what I want.

This is what I am after...

A customer comes to my gallery and wants to buy a product.

The land is owned by me as an individual, the product is created and owned by me as an individual.

The customer has the option of joining my gallery group which offers a group discount on sales at the gallery.

If the customer is wearing the group tag when they purchase an item, they get a refund for the discount.

If the customer is not wearing the tag, they are charged full price.

There are many scripts for sale offering this ability but all of them seem to require the object to be owned by the group, not by me.

I want a group discount script that allows me to keep all the products in my personal ownership, not to be part of some group.

Is this possible?

Ideally, the script would allow me to identify the relevant group during the set up for the discount to apply, from my list of groups??

My limited understanding of scripting would suggest this isn't a complicated piece of work but who knows... lol

If you are interested in creating such a strict let me know and we can discuss the finer details and $$.

P.S.

I have noticed there are two ways the discount seems to be offered with most vending outlets.

A) The buyer is offered two prices. The standard price and the discount price. Usually there is no text to suggest what the 2nd price is, I guess you just have to know the system. If you are wearing the group tag and select the cheaper price, you get the discount. If you are not wearing the tag and select the cheaper price, nothing happens, the transaction fails. And it seems that if you are wearing the tag and select the standard price, bad luck, you pay the higher price.

B) The buyer pays the standard price. If they are wearing the group tag, once the transaction occurs, a 2nd transaction occurs which gives the buyer back their refund.

Option B seems cleaner and more simple to me. Option A is fine but I would prefer more text on the price options to show standard price and discount price.

Anyhow... enough rambling...I look forward to being flooded with offers 🙂

Elleevelyn already showed you one way via obtaining the active group of a customer, though it does depend on wearing attachments.

But there are other ways to make a customer eligable for a discount:

1) you could distribute a non transfer discount voucher to your group members. Wearing that voucher during purchase would allow to give a reduced price.

2) you could keep a inworld database in your sim holding your customers and populate that with your group members (or avaters with purchases in the past). Your vendors could access it to see who’s eligable for a reduction.

Let me know if this looks good to you and we’ll take it from there.

Thanks for the reply, Marvin, much appreciated.

Elleevelyn showed a more direct method which would be my preferred approach.

As a consumer, I have worn a group tag at a number of different retailers over the past few weeks, and each time the discount process worked well.

I shall continue to explore this idea and see where it takes me. 🙂
