Like to learn how to make face/body skins.

Hello I’m a noob to this part of second life. I normally make toys for my store but I would like to make skin and face skins. How do I go about learning this? I have art programs and everything. I understand how layers work but how do I do this? What do I need? Thank you I don’t know if this is the right place or how to ask for this.
