I'd like to run my alt without using a viewer

What are the options if you want to run an alt without using a viewer? My alt is stationary and converses using an LLM so there's really little need to use a viewer except to log in or make an occasional outfit adjustment. I read an off-hand remark somewhere where a developer mentioned being able to start up an alt from a web page?  I've scoured google but am probably using the wrong terminology for search terms - I really haven't run across any helpful information anyway.

 

I have a Mac, if that makes any difference to what's available.

The Speedlight viewer for SL is text-based and easy to use, but it's an app. It could be useful for the purpose you described, if you have a phone available. You can leave the alt online for several hours, untouched, without having to use a proper viewer on your computer for it. I've used it a handful of times. Works quite well. Not sure if that's what you are looking for, but it's an option worth considering.

There are some pseudo-viewers designed for that. I haven't used any of them, although I tried a SmartBots demo bot once.

If you do something in this direction, please make sure the control program has enough smarts to notice when the bot has ended up at a safe hub due to a region restart. There are still dumb bots piling up at info hubs. Used to be much worse, but LL cracked down on some of those.

It also runs in a browser, so it should be ideal for the OP.

The Speedlight free account keeps a avatars logged for 6 hours even when the app or browser is closed down and the phone/tablet/computer is turned off. The Gold account (not free) keeps avatars logged in 24/7. Premium+ SL accounts get a Gold Speedlight account as a perk.

well ok, some very helpful suggestions for me to investigate, thanks people. Corrade is Linix/Win only I believe, but Speedlight sounds interesting.

So yeh. Speedlight was exactly what I was looking for, thanks Clem and Phil! I logged my alt in and his AI connected controller worked perfectly. The only caveat is with his sense of surroundings, he no longers faces the direction of who he is chatting with nor seems able to move to people when asked. Those problems are easy to work around using RLV or keeping him stationary. And Speedlight has RLV which was unexpected. This coulddn't be a btter solotion really.
