I ran Norton driver updater and I don't know if this is coincidental or consequential, but I have lost voice on SL.  Norton tells me the the fault is not with them.

Anyone?

SLVoice.exe is being replaced with libwebrtc.dll
Meaning they are getting rid of Vivox and going with WebRTC for voice. The WebRTC DLL is already in the latest viewers and i guess they are trying to roll out the server code.
WebRTC is already available on the WebRTC 1, 2, 3, 4 regions.

As for anti-viruses. I use F-Secure, free through my internet provider. Seems pretty good security manager.

Today's (now aborted) RC roll, would have seen WebRTC go onto BlueSteel (and then presumably all RCs on 9th October, and grid-wide 15th October when it would have been bye-bye Vivox). I'm guessing the goal is for Vivox to be gone by the end of October, which would give a couple of weeks to find and fix yesterday's main channel roll issues, and still meet that goal.

End of October might be possible but tight because of the Engineering summit the Lab is holding next week. Inara explains:

WebRTC Simulator Deployment Status

  • As a result of an Engineering team summit in week #41 (commencing Monday, October 8th), it now appears the deployment of the WebRTC updates to some of the main RC channels will now not take place until Wednesday October 16th. […]

well speaking of sl voice, i wonder what happened on vivox side that caused today's voice outage xD
On the other hand was awesome to test out webRTC with some fellow programmers.
