How Does One Appeal a Ban from the SL Forums?

Recommended Posts

How exactly does one go about appealing a ban from the SL forums (but not from SL itself)?

The ticket system doesn't include a category specific to the forums, although maybe this falls under "Other Second Life Properties"?

I seem to recall appealing one suspension years ago, but I think the notice of suspension include specific reference to an appeal, and I don't remember now what it said.

Insights or experience anyone?

Also, @Quartz Mole and @Dyna Mole (yes, I'm sorry for tagging you!), do you know? (The ban was by a Linden.)

Hello!

One would appeal a forum ban the same way they would appeal any sort of suspension, or ban anywhere on our platform. If they just go to the support page and submit a new ticket, under Account Issue > Abuse Appeal. Just as a note, since this is something we see as well all appeals need to be submitted only by the person who owns the account, friends can not submit on behalf of their friends since we can not discuss accounts with anyone other than the account owner.

Thanks, Tommy!

And yes, fear not, I'm not intending to submit on behalf of anyone else. I was just asked for assistance in determining the proper route and category of ticket.

Oh great, now we're all going to be guessing who it is! ❤️

It is like, I felt a disturbance in the force when I read Scylla's original post.

If my guess is correct, I thought they were immune, but LL must have gone to Blizzard and stolen their "Sword of a thousand Truths".

What if it was all of us that were banned, and relocated to an alternate forum 😨  This is our version of the cornfield.

yes this could be the explanation as to why, when I mention the forum to many, they say "what forum"?

but how do we explain somebody banned from 'the cornfield' forum?

They were unbanned, and have joined the civilized folk in the regular forum.  We just have to find a way, to pull them back down here with us if we want them back 🙃

I know they give a warning or 2 may get a time out. Before thinking of doing anything to get yourself banned.  Think before you leap cause don't have a bad mood take a break.  be good read the forum rules just stick to things stay out of places if you see anything should be well report it then.

So I gotta ask. Because not to be a buttholio, but I feel inclined to call BS. When did that exactly change? Because as someone who fought and beat an unjust ban way back in the day it took me 6 months or better to even get any kind of coherent, intelligent replies and the only way I could appeal was via email as I was not even allowed to log in to my account. lol The person who's account actually got compromised never even got their account back. So I mean if you're gonna tell people they can magically log in to their banned account and make an appeal then I'm curious as to how that works. Because once your account is banned that's it. Game over. You're locked out entirely. Unless you're willing to jump threw hoops and weed threw miles of red tape. The ban system in SL is the worst I've seen in any platform ever. I've seen little to indicate that has changed and heard plenty to believe it only has gotten worse over the years. So I have to say no. It is definitely NOT the same as dealing with a ban on the rest of the platform mate. lol🤣

If you are not logged into the SL website, you can go here to the bottom of the the page at https://secondlife.com and there is a "Support" link like this:

This will take you to a page with a "Submit a support ticket" link like this:

This will take you to this page where you can submit a ticket as a guest:

Which finally allows you to enter a support ticket using an email address where the only support ticket type is "Account".
This is what a person would need to submit a support ticket if they had been banned:
