SL vs RL

No, this isn't a "what's better" thread.

Let's compare and contrast. Inspired by the "hard truths" thread.

 

Example: In SL - if your neighbor is encroaching on your property, it's easy to prove, and you have reasonable recourse. However.. in RL, your neighbor isn't going to have bright, floating, roating advertisements on their property. 😂

One more: In SL, car accidents don't cost you anything. But - in RL, you're not going to run off the road three times getting from A to B (I blame the lag!).

Driving in SL has always been a PITA.  But even in little to no lag regions driving is an issue. One has to learn how to drive in SL. Once a person does learn they can keep a vehicle on the road.

The vehicle being driven makes a BIG difference. Some are well made for driving and some aren't.

SL vs RL - There is no VD in SL... it is easy to mute an X... 😃

Gravity. I say f you RL and your gravity. In SL we don’t need to wear bras (cause  no gravity) but do own so many of them, in RL the bra is the first thing (after shoes) that comes off 😂

RL vs SL -- I"ll never be saying to anyone in RL, as was said to me in SL during a dance when I removed a particle attachment, "You lost your body".

I really hope there will never come the day in RL that I tell someone “look at this cute skin I got and it was even on sale so I got all skin tones!!”

In SL: you are TPing in to a popular event and ppl dont rez properly- like no clothes on.

In RL: when i get off the bus in a very busy shopping district and realise I dont wear any clothes. No one else either….

In SL, you can choose your family.

In RL, you are never given this luxury and we are all accidents of birth.

in SL - your region is having a restart and u are sent to a crowded Hub. Clothes doesnt rez as there are so many ppl Redings simultaneously. 

in RL:, you cant reach your RL home for some reason so you are sent by taxi to a strange place which is crowded by people. All without clothes ofc including you.

Hard truth: SL is better but you need RL to access it. 😜 ...

SL - you log out, IMs cap, nobody bothers you

RL - people will call, text, mail, ring the bell, knock on the door even, even if it's just that guy that comes every year to check the smoke detectors (on the bright side, this year, the guy who checked once a year how much water the flats in the house used, to pass the info on to management, installed new counters that report the numbers remotely to a device in the house corridor, so won't have to enter our flats yearly, we're getting there!)

SL - I can stand for as long as I want anywhere and just alt view through windows into places.

RL - This is frowned upon, and may even be seen as stalker behaviour.

SL - due to lag I often walk way past where I want to go.

RL - due to aching muscles I often can’t walk to where I want to go.

SL: When you can’t teleport into a sim because it’s at full capacity.

RL: You get to stand in a long line for 45 minutes under the hot sun to get into a store like Brandy Melville because a friend's teenage daughter wanted to go there when they came to visit me last month.

RL: Arrive at an event with slightly dishevelled hair, and a shoelace undone - people lose their minds.
