Carolyn Zapedzki Posted August 26 Posted August 26 A little market research I would like to see people's preferences, please. When clubbing which of the following do you prefer: 1/Using your own HUD if able to if scripts are allowed 2/Use the clubs dance machine And if you opt for the clubs machine do you prefer synchronised or none synchronised?

Never really been a fan of "line dancing", it's too "Country & Western" for my tastes. 3
MissSweetViolet Posted August 26 Posted August 26 (edited) I've done both, it depends how lazy I am when it comes to switching up the dance for the song [something I enjoy doing when using my own hud], sometimes it's easier to let someone else do it if I have to go between RL and SL during the event. As for sync, I'm fine ether way, I've been to some events with amazing synced dances, but sometimes I like doing my own thing too. It all just kind of depends for me. Cinnamon Mistwood Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Depends on the day. I have my own dances for dancing alone, but use a club's couples dances all the time. If local chat is really active and fun and I decide to join in, I'll join the group dance thing to add to the community activity and chatting. 4

Except for couples dances, I invariably use my own dances. I get around the script / HUD problem by not using a HUD. On the whole, I kinda hate synchronized dancing, except for those shared by one DJ when she's just playing for a smallish group of friends. She has excellent taste in dances, and it's sort of a "community" thing in that case. 1

Depends. Generally am there by myself and don't know anyone, so my own HUD 100%. On the rare occasion I might have some social connection and the others are on the club dance, I will join that, though I generally am not much of a fan of the dance animations it throws. 1

Caitlin Tobias Posted August 26 Posted August 26 When I am alone, I always bring my own dances. For couple dances we use the machine that’s available but if those dances are really bad or outdated, we both dance solo with our own dances. Dance-lines or group-dances are the horror. 2

It's not really a HUD. It's my AO. I set my crouch to toggle, then I program my AO to dance when I crouch, because I almost never want to crouch, but want to dance a lot. I have a dance that I picked out from a nice animation shop and I update it maybe every 3 or 4 years. I use my firestorm AO, but I have a HUD AO set up like this in my inventory, just in case I want to use a viewer that doesn't have a built in AO for a little while. 1 1

Do couple’s dances still get out of sync pretty quickly like they used to? Seems that way when I see other people using them, but I am not that close to them, and perhaps it is working fine from their perspective. 2

One thing that I know triggers an out of sync is if I cam around a club and am not on screen at some point. When I come back my partner and I are often out of sync to some degree. 3
Claireschen Hesten Posted August 27 Posted August 27 On the rare occasion i do go to a club and dancing is required i now always use the dance hud built in to my AO, i don't have to wait X amount of time for things to rez or cam around trying to find the venues dance machine. I have been burnt before by this requirement gone somewhere been very popular while waiting for things to rez got ejected went back got banned for being there more than a couple of minutes not dancing 1
Gabriele Graves Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I always use dance anims I've purchased for singles dancing, never the club ones. I have some older ones from Vista, some from Akeyo but the majority of them are from Paragon dances which are my favourite for club dances. I've got them all in the builtin FS AO. 1

Told the host that I was still waiting things to rez --- but he said not an excuse. This was at a venue that's been around for a long long time sadly. 2

I hate clubs in second life for that reason specifically . Everyone there seems like the same person , hive minded brain dead , dancing in unison , ready to mate. I always use my own dances , my own sits, etc. I hate most of the poses in furniture and most of the horribly animated dances that throw your head around wildly or suddenly jerk back into loop position , etc . But then again , I almost never got to clubs and when I do I'm usually standing . Can't move around too much though. Friends with me got b****ed at for for moving too much , ironically . " Calm down " they said . 🤔 Clubs are a trash environment for profit makers to make profit lol. Don't forget to pay the dj , don't forget to pay the host , don't forget to pay the dancers , don't forget to tip the group tip jar . Edited August 27 by Midnoot

Find one with adults in it, not robot kids. I can't even think of a club that would eject someone for not dancing. But then, I go to clubs where they still play music. We have several patrons who have never tipped the club or the staff in years. They are still welcome. Better than bots standing around. Club owners making a profit? Haha, you are delusional. Most club owners I know don't make any profit, they do it for love not Lindens I know what you mean about shouts for tips though, that can get a bit annoying at some clubs. 1
Conifer Dada Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) I don't have a dance HUD, I just 'play' individual animations from my invo. I sometimes use the club machines and occasionally the synchronised ones as long as the other people dancing on them aren't hugely tall! Edited August 27 by Conifer Dada

Yes, camming messes up your dancing :). For the rest I think it's way better than 10 years ago, I hardly have to synchronise during dancing anymore. 2

You remind me of the WHAM! song, "Careless Whisper: "… I'm never gonna dance again Guilty feet have got no rhythm Though it's easy to pretend I know you're not a fool … I should've known better than to cheat a friend And waste the chance that I'd been given So I'm never gonna dance again The way I danced with you, oh"

Is lol. The name reminds me of a fake band in the movie Music and Lyrics.
