Back to SL and already frustrated!

Hiya,

Am I the only one who is annoyed by the LH algorithm, or whatever is to blame for that?

I have 5 try per day, which is annoying in itself, but I understand, but I want a log home which has over 2k available at the moment. BUT out of 5 trys per day I got 3 times!! the same one with which I started this day!

It can't be too hard to flag the LHs you visited that day already, so that it won't pop up a second time!

What LindenLabs are doing here is kind of gacha and per their policy forbidden (yeah I am just annoyed).

When I only have 5 trys per day I actually demand to see 5! different homes!!

I've always been kinda curious, are people looking for a specific plot or something?

If there is 2000 available why not just allow anyone to pick the plot they want?

Likely this issue can't be fixed, or would need a lot of fancy coding to do so. But many do enjoy playing Game Of Homes and it is an attractive feature for many Belli residents,  so I hope that if it's not too difficult/costly it could be addressed.

If these people are just perceived as overly-entitled whiners though, as picky residents demanding features totally unnecessary, it won't be addressed.

So I don't want to see them caricatured as such.

So I think it’s not to weird to want to find a nice for ME place in my virtual home too?

It's been discussed a lot that the algorithm LL uses would benefit a lot from changes such as, never offer the same house twice in a row. I don't know if anyone entered a formal "feature request".

Yeah, the Lindens need to stop that business with the "get the same choice again".

I can understand that their algorithm might make that happen. But they could also fix it so that a repeat of a choice DOES NOT COUNT on your limit of 5 for that day.

Surely that is possible?
Had this happen twice again recently and just gave up until I can take longer to do it.

They have fixed this though, in a way... just pay for Premium Ploose and you can choose your location.

Absolutely possible. I would give LL the benefit of the doubt and say the current algorithm might not have any persistent storage, to keep the list of places you've recently had for instance.

Except of course it does somewhere, or it wouldn't know how many times you've moved in a day.

So it's purely a choice to keep it this way. It is a stupid way to code it in the first place; even I would think to make sure the code wasn't reallocating somewhere you've just had. At least that day, when clearly things get rolled over on a timer of some sort.

Nothing more infuriating than being given a limited amount of home attempts and then being given the same home for more than half of your daily attempts .

 

However , I kinda like this feature .. you take it away and it becomes monopolized just like mainland except without profit . All water front  homes will be unavailable from that day on  if you give people the choice of which spot they want . Forget getting one then .

 

Seriously ... Once you give them a choice , get used to living in the middle of of 45 houses on each side of you with no water in sight .

I don’t want to choose my home. I never said that 🥹 I want 5 real chances. 
I was premium plus before leaving, and only used the choosing thingy once and it was no waterfront home, it was close to SL Mt. Fuji. Because I am from Japan in rl

but they butchered that theme so horribly lol but that’s another topic.  Everyone here has really different priorities, and it seems many like waterfront because it’s rare but I bet more people don’t even care for it and have other preferences 😊 
 

TLDR I don’t want to choose I want 5 real chances. 💕

Well if you compare other choises like a mainland waterfront to Bellisseria waterfront it would still probably be A LOT more affordable to pay for P+ one month  for example, if you only want a 1024 parcel, than buy the mainland parcel for 💰1.000000000 zillions

OK, I admit it... that never occurred to me. I would consider that, and in fact have been, so I abandoned my home an hour ago having noted a few really nice, available corner properties.

But then I did some reallocating just to see what I got, and landed a much nicer spot than I had, and good enough that it's not worth paying more for the others.

Yes, you can choose an available home if you upgrade to "Premium Plus".
