What does the color change mean?

When you look at certain names on your dashboard, your friends that is, and they are online it shows. Sometimes the name is "lit" up. Sometimes it is not. What is all that ?

If it's lit up, it means they have enable your ability to.see them on the map.  If you click on that lit up name on your dashboard, it will open the map link to where they are in SL.

I set so all my contacts (friends is too generous) can see me on the map.

That way, when they complain that I never IM them, I can say “wellll.. you can see me on the map, just drop by”
