I have not been able to purchase L$.  I get an email notification that the transaction has been declined, but no reason is given as to why, so I don't know how to correct the problem.  I am a premium plus member and have never had problems like this in the past.  This avatar receives no income for Second Life.

When I say I receive no income from this avatar, I mean that I don’t sell my L$ and convert them to spendable dollars in real life.  I do receive a weekly stipend which partially offsets the cost of the premium plus membership.  I was concerned that there might be some entanglement with this new dollar account feature that SL has added and I don’t really understand its purpose.  For me, SL is a net money sink, not a source of income.  For me, SL is not a job, nor a game.  It is 3D social networking.
