KalebRavenborn Posted August 20 Posted August 20 So is anyone else completely annoyed by the change the made to MP and sending gifts? You used to just pick the name from a list if you had sent them a gift before. Now you have to type it in EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU BUY A GIFT! Whatever idiot coded this change to justify a paycheck should be standing in an unemployment line I swear! Now its so freaking broken you can't put a name in, it just keeps spinning like the name is wrong or something! COMPLETE FAILURE LINDEN LABS! 5 1 2 2 1
Artorius Constantine Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Not a big fan of all the recent changes to the MP myself. The graphics feel like I'm on a Tandy 1000 running deskmate. Wouldn't have mentioned it until the "Buy as Gift" issue hit me today. Total fail LL! 4

Tjay Wicken Posted August 20 Posted August 20 It's quite clear that the marketplace is being updated to better support mobile devices, that means larger buttons and proper modal popups instead of inline input fields, which is not inherently bad, although seeing UI become "mobile friendly" is never a pretty experience to go through. The issue I think is whenever functionality is reduced. The gift option is a good example of this, as the auto-complete functionality was not carried over in the change and at the end of the day that just becomes a regression of functionality. I expect we'll be seeing more, similar, changes across the marketplace in the coming weeks and months, and hopefully at some point some QA testing from a desktop user perspective as well to avoid too many functional regressions. 6

I never liked the list of people I might have sent something to years ago being there. And since it is/was on LL's end the only way of cleaning it was to ask them to. I think it even kept the old names for people who changed their names as well. So I'm thankful to that "idiot" who finally removed this awful feature. 1 1 1

I can see how that's annoying if it's people you sent a gift to once, or who you know left Second Life, etc. I wonder if there's a possibility that some browsers just remember what values you put in the field and help prompt you as you start typing (as with other fields that some browsers "remember")..that would be a non-LL solution. 3

Wulfie Reanimator Posted August 20 Posted August 20 There was never a way to clear that list, so the previous functionality wasn't ideal either. 10 1

gwynchisholm Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Wasnt it like this before but you just didnt have the popup? Like you had to type users names in there This is definitely an extra step but not that much since its just the same thing but centered on the screen. I think they should focus on the layout of the SL websites, the marketplace is very narrow even on a 4:3 panel, with most people on 16:9 i imagine this looks pretty weird Its strange that its so narrow and still has an entire side bar dedicated to categories and stuff, so the actual listings to view are such a small section of the screen. 3
Markham Weatherwax Posted August 20 Posted August 20 It is annoying. It was better (and looked better) before they started messing around with it. I wish they'd just fix the things that need to be fixed, like notifying a reviewer when a creator responds to a review. Unless they check back, they will never see that reply. *smdh* 2
JUSTUS Palianta Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I just wish search would work like it used to. It's quite impossible to find the shopping on there you are searching for. Oh no you can't have a decent search you can have a shiny new button though ... Personally, I feel like linden is getting carried away with the shiny stuff ... like they just found it. 5 1 1

Don't forget the 504 error page that often pops up. (too often) Glad I don't rely on MP for my RL living. 🤥 I've oft wondered if they would prefer it shut down altogether, but I keep that in the conspiracy theory cupboard for now. Perrie Juran Posted August 21 Posted August 21 There are too many Lindens who do not have a Second Life and yet are allowed to design things for it. 5 2 1

It used to be you would create a listing, upload all your images, link relative products, then save your listing and the page would 504 error and you'd lose your entire listing. It was so bad at one point I would routinely save my description in a text editor before saving, and then I'd update a step at a time. Like save the description, come back, add images, save again, add related products, save again. It was terrible. Some time ago either the browser or website got updated to restore most of the listing if you pressed back in your browser. 1
Anthylea Celestia Posted September 17 Posted September 17 I HATE the new marketplace changes, I don't know what they where thinking shifting the images over to the left and leaving a huge gap. Then they put the multiple images on the bottom under the main image. This is AWFUL for anyone who uses the marketplace at 150% zoom because the marketplace is so small! REVERT THIS PLEASE! Also why isn't there an official marketplace changes feedback thread from LL? Hello? 2
missyrideout Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Yeah I don't mind putting in the name but there is something wrong with the text input for gifting. I know I'm getting the name right, and I know I'm not blocked (can't gift someone who blocked you) and when I click my friend's wishlist directly and add to cart, gifting works fine.
Coffee Pancake Posted September 17 Posted September 17 Why is this being done piecemeal in production. 1
Chaser Zaks Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) I was curious as to why the layout is slowly being changed, and I am convinced it is the boiling frog update method. Slowly change the site over time and no one will notice it changes, except for a few. I've been commenting about it, and honestly I think the end result will look great, we just gotta wait because they do want to slowly transition residents from one layout to another. The marketplace is one of those critical infrastructures that powers SL's economy, and slowly making changes that confuse people about a single feature briefly is much better than doing a whole new layout that confuses people over the whole change. They've likely been tasked with making the market place match the mobile client UI, and rather than a mobile dedicated site they're tinker-poking the main desktop site. There is no excuse for poor accessibility, it's not hard, it's not expensive, and fine .. it's not required by law for private sites, but come on.

My original guess is that some of the changes people pointed out (moving the thumbnails, etc.) may be more suited for a Mobile browser layout without going to the trouble of making the site "modern" enough to detect the browser window size and move stuff around, etc. Like modern websites do lol. 1
