Hi everyone,

I use the Firestorm Viewer, and select "Don't send my look at targets to others" for privacy. Often times, I like to zoom in and admire peoples' avatars because they're so creative, so I don't want my "look at" to show that I'm ogling them, lol.

So, my question is.... Is there another way people can still see my "look at" target even though I disabled it in the Firestorm Viewer?

Thanks!

No.

Though honestly it shouldn't matter anyway unless you wish to avoid getting the drama-llamas riled up.

Luckily they didn't ask you whether it mattered or not .

It's an invasive  feature that should have never existed , but since it does , there is a reasonable paranoia of whether our crosshairs are visible now . I hate the idea of someone seeing me looking at them , cause they often ,like you said , become drama llamas and act like me looking at them is somehow bothering them .

On the other hand , I also feel uneasy when I see crosshairs on me , cause it usually just means they're snapshotting me to use as reference for when they become me in their 35th rp alt . Yeah, that happens when you make good avatars m forumites probably wouldn't get it .

To be truthful, it's something that doesn't bother me, because at times any attention is better than none.

I love cross hairs drama, imagine in a visual world such as SL getting pissy if someone looks at you, banality right there.

It’s hilarious. I might turn it back on because I’m curious what someone’s argument would be for it if it’s an approved viewer function and I’m using it as it is was intended to be used for exploring a new place and seeing who is around.

I never used to change my lookat targets so they were always on.

Then one day I was in a club and I zoomed in at the sploder, was about to pay when I got a phone call, so I left myself hanging like that for about 15 mins.

I came back to find myself booted from the club with a pissy I.M from the club owner carrying on about me just being there for the sploder, he booted me from the group that was required to use the spoder and said I was allowed back in, needless to say I didn't go back in.

Since then I always turn it off.

Some people just take certain things way too seriously.

I look 'inside' people in SL....    I want to know what they are made of.

I do too . It's usually intestinal tract , colon , leading down to highly scripted seksual organs which they wear at all times , even when in pg sims , cause they just might get a bite while there .

Sometimes there's a catwa brain , which immediately leads me to suspect a pretentious person .

Sometimes there's cool rib cages with beating hearts . Those are cool.

I've even seen tampons...

Turned off my own crosshair, turned off seeing other peoples crosshairs and turned off name tags.
Looks clean and gives me all the information i need to know - none.

I like turning them on whenever I read in someone's profile that they don't allow people to photograph their avatar or if they have something in there about copying them.  Then, I just ignore any IMs they send.

I find it triggering when someone asks me, " lol what are you looking at?" MYOB!

I don't generally pay attention to them but if If I see someone camming me for a long time and they're generally giving off creeper vibes then I do find that unsettling. Mainly just because of the avatar I'm playing - most people don't pay kid avis much attention so it's kind of unusual when someone does. They can either be very nice or eugh.... one of those people...

Idea: A setting whereby you could turn off seeing OTHER'S "lookat targets"!!

"It's none of my business what you are looking at."

Called Catznip for me. Sometimes friends will say that someone is 'ogling' me and my response is please leave me in the blissful ignorance Catznip provides.

I only hide my cross hairs from others to avoid idiots in my IMs at clubs.  When I changed to the Cool VL Viewer, one of the features it doesn't have is the option to hide your cross hairs.  Cool is missing a lot of features like that, but it is brilliant at how it handles PBR, and it even has the ability to turn PBR on and off with a keyboard shortcut (ctrl+alt+P)... but that's a long post for another time.

Anyway...

When I went out with my cross hairs showing, I assumed I'd get crap from morons about it.  I didn't!  Either I hang out in better places now, or nobody cares any more.

EDIT:  Cool VL doesn't show other's look at targets, either.

Ah, the good ole drama-maker viewer. I can't imagine how cluttered their screen must look with all those crosshairs.

On this topic, what does "Don't send my LookAt target hints" mean?

I always have all three selected since I like being nosy just like everyone else but I always wondered what these hints may be if that one isn't selected.

Hover over it in preferences and it should explain somewhat.

i turned them all off ages ago so I don't see people looking and don't show what I'm looking at. the weird little crosshairs and trails are annoying not cause someone is looking but because ... weird crosshairs and trails all over.
