She is currently using a PC and would like to know are there any similar programs that would do the job like the program she is used to using, like cropping still images. Ishtara Rothschild Posted July 4, 2011 Share Posted July 4, 2011 The most popular free software to capture videos is Fraps. It also works with SL. If you want to edit and crop the videos afterwards I recommend VirtualDub, which is also free. Fraps captures the entire screen, so you'd have to first record a fullscreen video and then crop it with VirtualDub. There is also a cheap video capturing tool called WM Capture, which can record a video of a pre-defined area of the screen. That causes less lag and saves the post-processing.
