Hello! When I apply an XML file to my avi for a new shape I like, I have to first, write down all the numbers for my face and head because it's all going to change.
Has anyone figured out a way to change the body from only the neck down - leaving the head alone?

It is possible to export a full permission shape as an XML file. In Firestorm the export is: Developer->Avatar->Character Test->Appearance to XML In Preferences->Advanced enable the Advanced and Developer's menus.

XML files are human and machine readable. You can edit XMLs in most text editors. Wordpad in Windows is a good choice. Or a more advanced editor like Notepad++ is better, providing highlighting and coloring to help avoid typos.

Remove all the settings for the head to make a 'body only' shape.

In Firestorm wear the head shape you want. Then import the body only shape. In FS edit your shape, right-click avatar, Appearance->Edit Shape. In the lower right is an Import button.

When importing shape any setting in the imported shape file will overwrite any setting in the worn shape.

You can get creative with this process.

However, the 'combiner' Stephanie mentions is only L$10 and saves you dealing with the XML file and figuring out which settings to keep or delete.
