Unfulfilled linden dollar orders

I put in a request to purchase Linden$ and was told the request would take 10 minutes to complete. An hour later I canceled the unfulfilled request and US$ was returned to my Account Balance. I then placed another request which was completed within the 10 minutes. Does this US$ that was returned the first time include the fee that is charged for purchasing Linden$ since they failed to fulfill the request in the time given by them?

There was no fee if there was no transaction.

The estimated time to fill a request is not very accurate, BTW.  It can't be, because it really depends on how much competition your request has in the market, and that changes all the time. You are always buying L$ from other residents, not from LL(Tilia) itself. Basically, then, your request will be filled when there's a matching request to  SELL L$ at the price you are offering.  Once that criterion is met, you are still competing against other buyers who have been in line for longer than you have.  All of this means that if there have been a lot of people waiting to buy L$ and there are relatively few sellers interested in selling at your price, you could wait for longer than their system's rough estimated period.  So, you can either be willing to buy at a higher price, or willing to wait.

ETA:  Or, of course, you can simply buy your L$ with the Market option, which means that the system automatically sells at whatever the current traded price is at the moment.  You don't wait at all in that case.  You don't get at good a price either, but that's not much to worry about unless you are buying L$10,000 or more.
