Hacker hijacking other people's lands to spam object messages with links?

Someone in SL has some way of sending object messages in the public chat, without the object or the avatar being in the same region. When teleporting to the parcels the object is in, area search returns nothing. How can someone make an object send something in the public chat, from one region to another, without the object being in either?

These links are formatted with text that is both disturbing and illegal. This has happened 4 times and twice I went to the slurls where this object was supposed to be in, to file a report. Both of these times the TP brought me outside someone's homes.

Besides these messages being very disturbing, I am also wondering how people would feel about someone using their homes to send illegal content from? The kind of illegal that will get people arrested if law enforcement would know about this.

I have a feeling I've gotten those same ones, they're not public chat but targeted IMs sent by objects (which will be displayed in the local chat window, not a separate tab). They can be sent from any location to any avatar, as long as they have found out your avatar UUID. Could've been scraped off search, or being in the same region at some time etc., no real way to completely avoid that.

Abuse report the message, preferably with the sending object details/the object's owner shown as abuse reports include a screenshot, there should be a way to open the object details and or owner details by clicking the name header of the message, it may be just a single character like ".". The few times I've gotten those messages, they're never from the same location, object or owner so presumably they're sent via throwaway/hijacked accounts.

I also had that "." name on the object. It just says "Scripted account, cannot reply to IMs." I block those things, but I wish there was a way to block everything that doesn't come from objects owned by people on the friends list. -> "they're not public chat but targeted IMs sent by objects (which will be displayed in the local chat window, not a separate tab)" - that is exactly what it is! This latest one came from an account created the same day.

This last experience has me not want to login and when I do, I either log out fast or just go AFK. SL has become a very negative in-world experience at this point.
