Diablo Lioncourt Posted August 7 Author Posted August 7 (edited) Whelp, this may be one of the more impressive locations I've ever found abandoned. And one of the ugliest views ever, too. Its a quarter of a sim, mostly deep water, feeding directly into Sea of Fables. Its protected river on the right side. Like often when I find something abandoned that's just an unusually good location, they chose to auction it off. Happy bidding to anyone interested:) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Butler/112/32/24 Edited August 7 by Diablo Lioncourt 1 1
Arwyn Quandry Posted August 8 Posted August 8 I managed to scoop up a waterfront parcel of abandoned land yesterday. Absolutely lovely spot, perfect for making a beach. The view isn't protected, so it could always turn bad, but I'm hoping others appreciate how lovely it is too and don't do anything crazy. There's a bunch more abandoned since I only claimed a 1024m slice, but I'm hesitant to share for fear of someone building something ugly next door! I'll just say it's on Gaeta V. 2

One of my first long-term mainland homes was a 1024 like this on an abandoned beach overlooking empty abandoned water, in a sim that was grid edge on 2 sides on the Jeogeot coast. Then Bellisseria came along, and that area filled up with people.
Diablo Lioncourt Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 If you're looking for a great place to claim your first home in SL, Chapel Stile is a beautiful, quiet sim with flat green grass on shallow waters, grid edge and lagless. I'd recommend putting in a claim quickly, as this will go fast! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chapel Stile/182/99/22 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chapel Stile/49/121/23 There's also a grid edge baby on the auction block. 1

Arwyn Quandry Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Big chunk of abandoned land with a watery corner I found. Lots of neighbors with privacy screens but if you put up your own, you won't even notice. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Amaro/170/89/21 1
Freckles Fairelander Posted August 29 Posted August 29 If you are preparing to buy or flip snow land for winter, there is at least 31664 m2 of abandoned land in Isere directly bordering the Hanson protected park land. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Isere/2/110/121 2
Freckles Fairelander Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Also an abandoned 1024 in Swain right on the alpine path. Castle to the rear, view of the valley (and more abandoned land below) at your feet. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Swain/208/178/158 4
Freckles Fairelander Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Newly abandoned 12608 m2 in Boreal. Mostly borders Protected Land on one side and nearly the entire length of Lake Arosa on another. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Boreal/136/8/116 4
William Gide Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:34 PM There are two recently abandoned plots on Heterocera which are right on the rail line #1 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Webworm/220/192/74 - 1616m2 #2 http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Dubia/180/8/68 - 2752m2 #3 Between them is a huge plot, 26288m2, which has a small inland lake: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Webworm/179/248/79 1
Ingrid Ingersoll Posted Thursday at 02:38 PM Posted Thursday at 02:38 PM Oh wow, I remember those 2 regions being bought up almost entirely by someone. Abandoning land is such a waste of money 1
Clem Marques Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM (edited) 2 hours ago, Ingrid Ingersoll said: Abandoning land is such a waste of money It depends on the parcel. Some of them are so unwanted that even if you set the price to 0.2 L$/m2, no one will buy them. At least not for a long while. In those cases, considering the fact that one has to pay tier for the land they own, it makes sense to just cut one's losses by abandoning the parcel before the month ends. Better than paying another month of tier, especially if it's a big piece of land, since it'd be more expensive to keep it. I've done abandoned parcels like that before. Sylvia Tamalyn Posted Thursday at 05:48 PM Posted Thursday at 05:48 PM (edited) It's also quite possible that the person who owned the land found a parcel they might like better, and wanted to grab it while they could. I can see abandoning in order to claim dibs on a better parcel, especially if it's one they had been watching. (Yes,, they could have raised their tier level to get additional land allowance, but maybe that doesn't suit their RL budget.) Edited Thursday at 05:51 PM by Sylvia Tamalyn 2
