Question about "Protected Land"

Hello, I have found a land that is titled "Protected Land" and is owned by "nobody". It mainland of course, and I would love to own this because of it's name. Is it possible to purchase/own these lands through Linden Labs or something? I'm new to this.

Protected land is owned by Linden Lab and it cannot be purchased or rented. It's public land. If you like a specific area that is "Protected Land" the best that you can do is to try to get a piece of land that is next to it. Then you can enjoy the view.

"Protected land" means its not for sale to anyone. Its often a road, park, ocean, waterway, etc.

To see land owner, look at parcel details. The "estate" screen will tell you all of mainland is owned by "nobody".

Right: Protected land intentionally isn't for sale.

Its owner isn't always "(nobody)", sometimes it's "Governor Linden" or group-owned by the "Linden Department of Public Works" or "Blake Sea" and probably others.

This is all distinct from "abandoned land" which is owned by Governor Linden but can be made available for auction or sale with a Support ticket.

Just buy any parcel and name it "Protected Land"

You may see a parcel of land called "Protected Land" although it really is not owned by any of the Lindens. As mentioned above, anyone can name their parcel "Protected Land". And I suppose anyone can have an account named "Nobody".

This is a funny concept, too bad all the bee/hornet security I’ve seen is old stuff from 2012. Wish there were newer. Who’s do you use?

i think its the one you saw, 😬

I accidentally griefed someone with it the other day. My parcel is long and narrow, so I set max range of 96m, thinking it would only scan to the parcel boundary, Wrong,  the swarm attacked someone on the road and chased them all the way across the sim to their parcel.

When i realized what happened I imed the person and apologized.

Scan limit is set inside the parcel now 😬
