Chrissyxo92 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Hello, I was just wondering how do I get into modeling/ become a model, are there special agents? how does it work?
Rowan Amore Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Modeling isn't nearly as big as it used to be years ago. There are modeling academies which do cost money to attend. You'll also be expected to have a variety of clothing styles including hair, jewelry, shoes, etc. Modeling poses and walks are needed as well. I was briefly involved with someone who was at the 'high-end' of SL modeling. You really end up spending more money than any token amount you MIGHT make doing a runway show. 2
Chrissyxo92 Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 oh okay thank you Im kinda new to the second life community so Im not really sure on what big anymore do you have any suggestion on what are the fun things to do on second life? also are there ways to become a model for actual stores? 1
PheebyKatz Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) I've made thousands of L$ doing 3D modeling for SL (as in, making objects). I've made 0L$ working as a fashion model, and believe me, I tried. Now I make objects and scripts for my inworld living, and play fashion model for fun on my own time. That said, you can sometimes get a gig helping acquaintances by posing for their MP listings, you just have to have the same body (or one of the bodies) that they design for, and you can even get the outfits for free just for posing for them. I got a couple of really nice outfits that way. Nothing is ever hopeless, just some things take a lot of networking before you see a profit. If you really want to do a particular thing, don't let anything stop you, because you can do it. Edited July 30 by PheebyKatz 2

Again, there were a few store that used to hire avis to model clothes in their shop windows, but that was a long time ago -- I haven't seen that in years. What most stores use now is bloggers. Being a blogger means that you get "taken on" by a particular store, who will gift you new items (most often but not always clothing) as they are created. You then produce some good quality photo images of yourself wearing them, in a way that shows them off, as a model would. And you publish them on social media -- most usually Flickr, but other platforms as well. So you won't get paid for it, but you do get free clothing. However, you'll have to apply to particular stores to be a blogger for them. And stores will generally only accept bloggers who 1) are good at SL photography, 2) have a reasonably decent social media following, and 3) look good. So, blogging might be a way to go -- it's a lot of fun, and . . . FREE CLOTHES! However, you'll need to establish yourself on social media, and become competent at SL photography if you want to go that route. 5
PheebyKatz Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I will add to what I said above, and to what Scylla has said above, if you really want to be a model, tell everyone you meet that you're a model. Some might scoff, but who cares? It all starts with telling people what you want to be and networking. A LOT. If you just need some L$, oh man, there's so much you can do, even stuff nobody else has thought of, probably. I used to get 2k a week just for being someone's kid and making sure the ducks got fed. Use your imagination, that's what people are all here for, even if they like to pretend they aren't. Someone out there wants to pay you for what you can do. You just have to get out there and find them. 4
