There are no HUDs for posing on furniture, AFAIK. Furniture has its own poses.

In general terms I think most people use a Posing or animation HUD and fill it with animations they buy. I know I seldom find any HUD that has a collection of poses I like. So I buy individual poses and add them to my copy of the HUD: PoseAnywhere.

For serious photography in SL many of us use the viewer Black Dragon. Recently some of us have started using the Alchemy Viewer. Both have a Poser panel that allows one to pose an avatar. Most of the bones are listed (an arm has about 20 bones listed) and each can be individually controlled. I can start with any pose or point within an animation. Stands, Runs, Walks whatever.

The built-in Poser allows the avatar to be moved and/or rotated. Previously I used Strawberry Singh's (now S. Linden) tricks for posing avatars. But her site is now closed and her YouTube channel has changed. Whatever, her tricks are more easily accomplished with the built-in Poser.

Firestorm and Alchemy viewers have a built-in animation override panel. It can be used as a posing HUD too. So it is possible to avoid buying a HUD or finding a free one.

Once you are familiar with the HUDs and SL Posing and Gesture features you can do amazing things.

Here I used Alchemy to position hands and head to avoid the typical "floating" seen with poses. Often I'll use the built-in Poser to tweak a pose. But I have on occasion made almost the entire pose for a shot. Somewhere I have a shot walking up stairs with my hand on a rail. Most of the pose was made manually to fit the stairs and rail.
