Honestly, it's far worse when it's a hodge podge of new and old.  They'll have the free legacy classic body that in no way matches their system head texture-wise, some freebie hair from 2009, and the old wooden looking dangly bits.  It's like some bizarre pornographic Frankenstein monster.   Women, too minus (or not) the dangly bits.

I found that’s the cleanest explanation for new people when they’re trying to figure out what to do. Find some circle of communication, jump in. There’s an expectation set to not be a nuisance, because they’ll out you from the communication, much like a discord channel.

I ask what they're interested in. If they're clearly interested in the sexual side, I encourage them to get a good-looking mesh avatar. I'll suggest LucyBody or Maitreya for female avatars, DNA BROX! or Belizza Jake for guys. I'll help them get some free group gift clothes too.

If they don't know what to do, I might take them on a train ride or surfing, to show them that SL can be interactive and fun, as well as look good. If they like sci-fi, I might take them to a cool sci-fi sim, but often their computers can't handle the graphics for those. 

One newbie who was very interested in exploring and experiencing SL was in Malaysia and didn't have a great internet connection. He was floored when I told him what my upload and download speeds were. I think LL forgets sometimes that not everyone accessing SL has access to the internet systems and computers that many of us in the US and Europe have.

Not sure if you're just being facetious but there are plenty of looks with mesh bodies aside from voluptuous.   This is an old avatar that I updated to the LaraX body and a free head.  I understand some people don't care to update which is fine but thinking that an update won't allow you a similar look is incorrect.   

She's very similar in shape to your system avatar.

I was being a bit facetious, but only for a bit of fun. I know that there are amazing mesh avatars out there, of all shapes and sizes.

Also, I was helping a noob for two hours yesterday to get a mesh body and look pretty. She got it pretty fast, but I try to have some fun with noobs first. I take them sailing or flying or give them toys to show how creative you can be.

I've not only seen it, but long ago, on another account, I even participated in it. Being celibate for the remainder of my SL is my penance. I figure it's the least I  can do to make up for it. Nobody should ever have to wake up next to that Girl Next Door avatar, not in this day and age.

There are plenty of people who don't care if you have a body that cost money. There are even people who specifically target newbies, and as far as I can tell, they don't even care if you're made out of sculpty prims. They just want some action they don't have to pay for.
