Madi Melodious Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Madi's Pet Peeve of the Day! If you have a huge store and its set out in a chaotic way that I can't find the object I want to purchase. If I have to use area search to find it, then you block me from using tp2cam by returning me to the front of the store. I am going to leave and take my business elsewhere. 15 5
SpiritSparrow Skydancer Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) I can not stand when people do this. I just leave. Forget about it. Its not worth walking a whole region just to find something. NOPE> bye. Also, venues that dump you in a landing pit then use a mover to push you around, then have the actual event 500m away and block direct TP so you have to push forward in avatar induced lag... nope>bye CONTROL issues. Yes, this is beyond irritating, I leave also 2
AmeliaJ08 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) I tend to just zoom but yes, not allowing teleporting in many sims is basically a crime. I found somewhere really neat a while ago and I genuinely can't find it again, it was deliberately quite hidden and I'd love to return (it was a huge hidden underground bowling alley) but nope, probably never will since my landmark just sends me to the landing point. Katherine Heartsong Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) There's one popular (smaller) event that shall remain nameless, that TPs you out in front of the building about 150 yards in the dark with only distant street lights showing, and positions your avatar facing away from the event. Stop that silliness. (There are also a number of women's clothing stores that do this for no reason as well, TP you way outside the entrance ... I'm looking at you Dead Doll, Just Because, and Salt&Pepper.) Edited July 25 by Katherine Heartsong 8
Rowan Amore Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) First time I went to Maitreya, I couldn't find the door. 😂 Edited July 25 by Rowan Amore 7 12
Arielle Popstar Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I've managed to circumvent such blocks on occasion by sitting on something close by to the area I am trying to get to. 3

Also those regions with 3/4 stores and the teleport link throws you into a central courtyard always facing the wrong direction and busy loading some store you weren't interested in... and then you have to work out which direction to turn and run several hundred meters (because fly is disabled) while the store signs haven't loaded. In world shopping is pain, I only ever do it looking for something that for some reason isn't on MP or if I have a suspicion there's some discount or benefit to buying in world. It's never much fun. 3

It’s so f*cking stupid, it boggles my mind that someone consciously makes an effort and pull this kind of sh*t. In world shopping is okay, but the chock full sims, lag, moaning, mesh demo/vendors not rezzing, etc. of evenst experience is even more tragic. 1
Rowan Amore Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I'm just happy that in SL, I can walk those 100 meters in heels with no pain. I can barely walk 10 feet in RL without pain. (still need that hip replacement). Not that I don't zoom when I want to but eh, just not something that bothers me if I have to walk. What. DOES bother me is when windows and doors look similar or the door is hidden around the corner. Bumped into many a window that way. 7
BriannaLovey Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) I believe many do this because they have hidden product testing or otherwise private areas on the same region as the store (often at a different elevation) that they don't want people on the sim being able to teleport to. Of course this is a stupid reason to ruin the experience for everybody (as there are much better security options,) but remember that we are talking about creators who often do other stupid things like make their stuff no-mod. Janet Voxel Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I just want to point out it’s not always the store owners that did this. Sometimes the sim owners’ doing. 1

Bree Giffen Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I've always had to draw a map and mark points of interest with an X mark. In my latest visit to Uber, if I head south then turn left I can find the pants I'm planning to buy. I have to try the demo first.

I just find a nice clean spot away from everyone and then just cam the rest, That is if it's too laggy to walk the sim.. Which I like doing anyways. Edited July 25 by Ceka Cianci

I hate any sim that blocks flight, teleporting, or any movement control that SL allows us to have by default. There is no excuse to limit us. Control freaks. 2

Cristiano Midnight Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) It is an annoying feature. I wish it could be overridden like the no fly option can be. Edited July 26 by Cristiano Midnight 2
Carolyn Zapedzki Posted July 26 Posted July 26 It does annoy me too. I like a TP function for events, I would much prefer to stand in one spot and cam around then TP to anything that catches my eye. You can use zoom to buy to a certain extent but if you are too far away you can't buy. 2
Ceka Cianci Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) For those that use Firestorm and hate No fly zones, In Firestorm Preferences under Move & View, Go to the Teleports Tab in that window.. Then check the second box down, which will be, Always Fly After Teleporting. More times than not, it works until you decide to stop flying. Edited July 26 by Ceka Cianci 2

Anyway there's one that lets you interact with things from a long distance. You need it on to use cam sims for most big events etc. Edited July 26 by Fraser Lisle 2

It's in the Advanced menu.. You want to UNCHECK - Limit Select distance Just under that in the same menu you want to CHECK - Disable Camera Restraints. 2
