Hi, I'm pretty new to SL, came from IMVU. It seems like people don't really talk on here, besides sometimes in voice chat places or a DJ interacting. Any tips? /: Also, what are some nice places to go to? edit: also creepy guys, but I don't want that zz

What kinds of things do you like to do? 

Are you just looking for a place to kick back a couple times a week? 

Are you wanting to integrate into a roleplay community?

Drive, fly, or sail?

Do you want to learn to build stuff or take photos?

There are groups for just about every interest inworld.  When are you usually online? (your time zone)

I'm just trying to chill and hang out when I'm not working my full time job, maybe a roleplay community.. I'm on at 5:30 PM PST weekdays and free on the weekends

I also enjoyed doing some karaoke at Humblebrag, I need to figure out how to stream music though, and would like to learn how to DJ

That sounds like fun!  I know there are some DJs in the forums.  I am not sure how they feel about mentoring, but hopefully they have some good advice for you.  Best of luck!

You want to make friends? Read profiles.

If a profile speaks to you in some way, IM the person and  tell them what you find interesting in their profile.

That can possibly be the start of a friendship.

Sounds like you're on the right path already, just keep the good attitude and be out there doing things, and friends will come to you.

Creepy guys happen, just block them and move on, all the rest of us do that too.

Also congratulations on becoming one of us. I used to do IMVU too. I think you'll like SL a gazillion times more.
