Nando Yip Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I've been photographing with the official SL viewer, and the combination of EEP and PBR are giving me very interesting results, blurs and highlights that make the environment very rich for photographing, post here your photos that explore these tools. 7
ananoelle Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I have not long returned back to SL after a few years away and thought I was seeing things when I rezed a metallic chair and to my surprise there was the neighbours structure reflecting off the chair. I have some tinkering to. 1
Nalates Urriah Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I was playing with mirrors and PBR material clothes. In the left side only the region probe is active. On the right I have added a probe for my house. You can see the color from the walls reflecting. 3 1

Totally awesome to take pictures with however I wouldn't be leaving the settings as they are above to operate fulltime in SL it will kill my pc and experience . My system is old and probably needs updating however for the games which vary from shooters to MMOs (BDO) it does ok. Any tips would be appreciated. I am on a desktop PC not a laptop. 2 1

À direita, adicionei uma sonda para minha casa. Você pode ver a cor das paredes refletindo. Yes, the change is incredible.

The frame speed drops a lot with mirror mode activated, I'm also only able to use it to get more detailed photos. 1

If you haven't been through NVIDIA's recommended settings for SL, take a look here. In the 2016-18 years there are numerous articles on tweaking SL for better performance. While they are old, SL and the viewers haven't changed much. So the info is still pertinent. Also, the viewer's rendering process is HIGHLY optimized. But not necessarily for your hardware. This means you will need to experiment with your graphics setting in both the viewer and Windows/Mac. To do that well you have to dig into what all the setting do. 3

Nando Yip Posted August 3 Author Posted August 3 Redoing the mainland house, the pool now has PBR water, I'm enjoying using the resource in different ways. 11 1
ananoelle Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Has anyone tried multiple angled reflections with mirrors? I wanted a pic in a mirror room, the first I rezzed acted as it should but when I rezzed a 2nd mirror and cammed to see if I could be seen in both I got yeeted by Firestorm. 1

I did try with 3 mirrors at slightly different angles and a single mirror probe but that was on the LL viewer. I didn't experience any crashes but the effect wasn't perfect (although close enough depending on your needs) on either of the mirrors that weren't perfectly aligned with the probe. 2
Nando Yip Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 I exchanged the pool water for the water that comes in this pack, (here: Second Life Marketplace - Skye PBR Sistema de Água V1.0 ) I was lucky and bought it at the promotional price at the launch, it is a little expensive, but I think it is worth the investment. 8
Lyric Demina Posted August 28 Posted August 28 What I notice with PBR now more than I did before is how important "scale" is, especially in nature. I feel like I have to redo some landscaping now that I can actually see it more clearly. The hyper-realism is staggering though in some cases; it's a lot of power. I am still learning to finesse it and use gentler touches. Softer lighting will be a good start. 6
Christina Riederer Posted August 28 Posted August 28 How anyone can say Non PBR is better than PBR, the richness of colour, reflections, tones and depth is leaps and bounds on the old viewers. 4
