Blocking

If I blocked someone can I still see their messages in group or nearby chat? And can they see me in the same world?

They can't IM you, and you can't see anything they say in Local. Can't say for sure, but I'd think it woulkd apply to group chats, as well. Naturally anything third-party like Discord chats would still be open both ways.

They can still see what you say in local, etc., even when you block them though, so just be aware of that. You can block and derender them and never have to see or deal with them again, but it's not like you disappear for them as well.

It works in Group Chats as well as General and IM's..

They can still see you and your chats as well as your avatar..

The only thing being blocked is what you view, not what they view.

I like to have an auto response for muted/blocked avatars, especially when they're proceeding with a conversation I do not like or they are being creepy. My current message says: -

Even better when you leave the conversation open and can see them typing a message.

I have one outfit which is nothing but a whole body alpha so everyone sees nothing. I find it satisfying under certain circumstances and useful for when you're being observed and don't like it.  Best when you're not in a hurry to do anything else and just stand there for a while as you go make a cuppa in RL .. hehe

How do you do that. I stopped blocking people when I figured out that they could talk about me on local and I wouldn't know.

At the top of the local chat box, on Firestorm, you click the second from left with the x through it. You'll see their text in grey and when you click again, nothing

Block/derender and move on. If they're talking about you so what? Unless someone comes to you to clarify what has been said or to get your side of the story, what they say really is meaningless.
