Hello all,

Let's say you buy a new mesh body. In your inventory, you have hundreds of outfits with your previous body.

Is there an easy way to update all your saved outfits, or would you have to change them one by one.

   Yes.

Go to the old body in your inventory, right-click on it, replace links, drag-and-drop replacement from your inventory into the 'new' part, and hit 'start' - wait until all links have been replaced.

If it's a completely new body though, clothing and accessories rigged for the old body aren't going to work.  Most of the clothing for Lara that I tried on LaraX don't fit.

If it's an update to an existing body, the above info would work fine.

Thanks, that worked well.

Now I feel like a noob.

When Debi first switched back to Maitreya when the X was released, she was using the PetiteX. I decided to switch her over to the regular X when I kept finding clothes I wanted but was only being released for the X. I discovered that the boobs on the X behaved much better than the 5.3 when making them small fortunately, so I was happy with the result.

Back to the point, when I started my inventory purge that also included sorting and purging all the old outfits. But I wanted to keep all the ones I had made for the PetiteX. I found the easiest way to do that was to:

  • put on the outfit
  • then in the outfit folder right click the object and select find original
  • remove the petite size and wear the regular X size
  • save the outfit (I renamed the outfit with the current date)

Fortunately I only had about 20 outfits like this that needed updating.

added: I used "save as" because I also wanted to change the name of the outfit but you could just use the "save" button. Using the save as button means you'll need to delete the original outfit, but if you just use the save button I believe it changes the original folder contents then you would not need to also delete the original outfit folder.

And do the outfits actually look okay? Because like Rowan stated, this fix will only work for body replacement but not all the clothes that are saved along with it. Each body has its own clothes. I think you actually have to redo each outfit.

Replace links works great for switching out updates of the same product. Or say you've been wearing one specific pair of glasses and have found a pair you like better and want to start using them instead of the old pair. Then you can easily use replace links to swap out that new pair for the old. But in the case where you are swapping out one body for an entirely different body, then replace links doesn't work that well. That's why I posted the method I used when swapping one body for another and changing the clothing to go with the new body.

Let me add a wrinkle that I've found useful. I found that I occasionally wanted to add something new to all my outfits. That can be done by copying and pasting links, but one has to do it EXACTLY right for it to work. What I did is to make transparent tattoo BOM layer placeholders that I could use Replace Links with. I have a dozen or so that I added to all outfits. They are part of a base outfit that is included in nearly all my outfits.

Replace Links. It also has a function to delete all links so if you're swapping out a body that has less individual parts than the old one then you replace all the links you can (just replace whatever, use a sample Outfit to get it right) and then use the delete function for any parts that remain.

Of course it isn't perfect. What we also need is an "Add links" function where we can select all of our outfits and quickly paste in a link to any object into each of them.

It'd be good to be able to group objects to make this a much simpler operation, things like bodies could have all their individual parts coalesced into a group that could be deleted or replaced as one.

If you need to replace a single old object link with multiple item links.

Use the links of the old thing as a 'handle' for Search bar to highlight the saved outfits that you need to paste as link the new object into.

You can manually paste as link into a specific saved outfit.

Repeat as needed for all new object links.

Then,   delete the old link.

Note that this works for objects.   Layers get scrambled.

Smart idea, going to copy that. Effectively hacking it to give you an "add to all outfits" function.

Agreed, that's good improvisational engineering. At the risk of sounding hubristic, it's like something I would do. XD

There's some really good stuff in this thread, in general. I never even knew you could swap out a pair of glasses on all your outfits at once, that's super neato.

Don't feel bad.  I have forgotten how to do most things at least once.  I even forget where I put the note I wrote last time I forgot...
