Hi!

I'm asking because I've found no groups for that category.  But ... it "could be" that I'm the only person over 60 who is here to ask this question ... LOL

...saved ... no 60 yet, just 59  :)

Never seen it really a problem to find people, but i'm very rarely ever mentioning my rl age. And it depends on the stage where the friendship is. I dont think it's a important requirement in such relation that it's worth mentioning fast, or at all.

I don't have a problem finding people or meeting people. I have a problem finding people who are not agiest. I recently had to deal with some unpleasant passive-aggressive BS because of my age and I was just wondering if there was another person in SL who knows what that feels like so I could talk to them about it.

Not very helpful. Maybe you should have stayed in the museum. 🙄

Clambers back up onto my plinth....just saying. I would bet money half the people in the group you were in were pensioners, morbidly obese or bedridden for some reason. Next time someone asks, just say you're young enough for fun but old enough to know better. Your rl is none of their business 😉

I also recieve ageist comments and I'm turning 38 in September. Most people in sl are older. Those kids were in the wrong game if age is an issue for them. I think they were picking on you to elevate themselves and bond with each other. You're better off away from that type

I don't know the answer to this question, but I do know that there are a lot of us around!
Personally, I found it a great relief to redesign my avatar to look nearer to my real age, mostly for my own benefit really, but I guess it also clues up anyone who speaks to me about my age before they make wrong assumptions.

Kids are mean, by nature, like we was back then.. And they will always be.
I always state in my profile my age. I have to remember to go update it every year! 😜

My Story:
I remember this story as if it was yesterday, because I was a noob in virtual worlds and I was chatting on local chat and suddenly one of them says:
-Oh? You are 39?    (I was a YOUNGSTER  back then!)
-Go die.
And they all left..

That was all... Go die.. No details, no explanations.. And since English wasnt my language, I couldnt get it. It hurt me as I assume your story hurt you..
15 years later I learn the famous American moto:
Words dont hurt me. Sticks and stones will brake my bones!

So, to go to your main Question and answer as: me the HUMAN..
The majority of SL are people who was in their 30s when Virtuality came up..
So today 25 years alter, the majority of SL users are above the half century.
Thats not above 60, but still close! With few words, welcome to SL :)

Now a more serious approach/answer will come from the tech of these days aka the A.I.
So here it is for you:

Perhaps most people over 60 do SL and don't worry about how old anyone is. That is what I do.

Why did you tell them how old you are? Its Second Life, we don't need to know your rl details.

Well, that's the only part of you that enters Second Life anyway.

Heart mind and soul, LL gives you a body to put them into.

I've been in SL for over 20 years. Debi is coming up on her 21st rez day. In my time here, I've found many people older than me. I'm 71 currently. I've never had any problem finding people around my age (give or take 15 years). Honestly, I'm quite surprised when I find people younger than 40. But my experience is that people don't typically share their RL age unless there's really a good reason to do so. I on the other hand am quite proud of my elder status so I probably share that info more readily than I should.

So you just might be surprised just how old the majority of the residents in SL actually are.

@beethros KarasThat's a great list of groups. I might have to check out a few of them. Thanks for sharing it.

I'm "only" 58, but have a lot of older RL friends and acquaintances. That RL experiences helps me realize we are not really different. It's only the "much youngers" that think so.

wow ... this question certainly took an unexpected turn  ... LMAO - Nevermind, folks. I'm sorry I asked. 🤣🤣🤣

As time goes by, we'll be a supermajority here! https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/supermajority

Then, as we (sadly or not) leave the planet, the next group of Second Life users gets to learn the same lessons.

So, we can laugh at anyone who makes fun of us for being "old"! They have no idea how liberating it is.

Whenever I go to poetry readings or folky kinds of things, the people skew older. Focus more on adult activities (open mics, poetry, etc) and less on adult activities (xxx, porn stars, etc)

Hi Tripp,

If there is no such group yet, what a perfect opportunity to found one.

During my Second Life "career," I regularly met guys over 60. I could point them in your direction (I can't give you their names due to the nature of my business). Alternatively, you could give me invitation rights to that group, and I could send them an invite.

You could even create a little 60+ hangout somewhere, maybe with weekly meet-ups or events. Bingo comes to mind - SCNR).

If it isn't there, create it.

I've always maintained that I'm only as old as the woman I feel...

...however, I'm her toy boy so perhaps I should rethink that.
