They fired the Linden who sends those inworld messages.

But really, I am getting a major issue with copied inventory. I copy one item, paste it, and it shows up as some other item.

Same with object contents. Drag and drop puts in some other item from my inventory, seems like a random selection.

If I had known they we're trying to update I would have schedualed my work time for later.

Linden Lab never intentionally schedule grid or server updates on a weekend........especially on a holiday weekend such this one (4th of July in the USA).  Something broke and they are trying to fix it.  Here's the latest text for the issue:

Inventory & Login Issues

Posted by Status Desk on July 2nd, 2011 at 11:53 am PDT

[uPDATED July 2nd, 2011 11:51 AM PDT] Work on the current inventory and login issues is still in progress. Please check back here for further updates.

[postED July 2nd, 2011 10:55 AM Pacific] Some residents may be unable to login at this time. In world chat, teleporting, transactions, logins and new registrations may also be disrupted. We ask that you please refrain from making any purchases in-world during this time and to make backup copies of any objects that you are currently building. This blog will be updated with new information as it becomes available

Believe it or not we used to get those notices.  A blue pop up telling everyone they had 5 mins to wrap up whatever it was that they were doing and leave the sim (or log off).  Those notices typically came about 30 seconds before everything went poof though.  I think LL decided it was a waste of time since everyone still bitched about "not getting the notice"..........how they could miss that big blue box I have no idea!!

But to tell you the truth, that was when LL did maintenance whenever they wanted and did not schedule a lot of it.  Now they schedule the mainenance well in advance and it's always posted on the Grid Status page.  It's pretty hard to notify people ahead of time if something breaks........I don't think anyone can schedule an equipment failure.

Yeah I remember those, which is why I was wondering.

And I only meant the notice as a warning something is wrong after it went down. Since usualy those left online are still attempting to do this or that.

In any case, at least their working on it.
