Phil Deakins
Tiny Empires was mentioned in a Mainland thread concerning a load of avatars that are parked under the sea and appear to be unmanned. I've heard of Tiny Empires for years but what exactly is it? and why would avatars need to be parked out of sight?
Griffin Ceawlin
It's a turn-based game that's played using the Tiny Empires HUD. You find a liege, buy land, make improvements, buy more land, recruit subjects, buy more land, make more improvements, buy more land, etc. Many players have alts to up their land holdings and so increase their rank. They don't necessarily have to be parked out of sight and many don't even sign their alts on unless their Kingdom's ruler is giving away acres, the Trader is coming, etc.
Cerise Sorbet
Hi, the game reminds me of Monopoly but set in the middle ages. There are many of the same elements, you acquire land and collect tribute etc. Players only accumulate in game wealth while they are logged in with the HUD running, that is why they like to park. Pussycat Catnap
If they have to buy land to gain points why do so many of them park their alts on public or abandoned or for sale land and just leave them there? I think I AR'd a couple stacks of them in the waters around Sansera over the weekend - in stacks of 8-15...
Griffin Ceawlin
It's not real land. Or even virtual land. It's land that "exists" only in the HUD.
Storm Clarence
I have several tiny empirettes that are my neighbors. They create no problem and seem to enjoy themselves. I would never AR them as they are courteous and kind, and fun to have around.
Griffin Ceawlin
Yeah, there really is no reason to AR them. Do people AR just anyone who... stands in one spot for more than, say, ten minutes? ... won't answer you in local or IM? ... goes AFK? What's the reasoning there? No wonder LL has trouble getting to real issues.
Venus Petrov
I lived on an estate made up of several islands and there was a Tiny Empire on a nearby sim. I could see them on my radar popping inworld early in the morning and, when I cammed over, they were sitting around a pool doing nothing. It was curious, nothing more. Storm Clarence
I like having people around my parcels. It reminds me of 'city' life which I enjoy more than my surburban, little Linden home. When I am on my Linden home parcel I am usually the only person on the sim(s). What fun is that?
Chronometria
Well, the problem is that they are providing as much "city feeling" as a whole load of 2d cardboard cutouts. May as well draw green dots on your map with a marker and get the same feeling.....they arent really people at their keyboards.

No wonder LL has trouble getting to real issues. When they start cluttering up land that isn't there's; yes. Bots have an impact on a sim - even the scripted agents take up space and generate lag. When there's so many of them people have trouble entering a sim - that's an issue. But even if there's only 15 or so of them, its still an abuse of sim resources. Phil Deakins
I think I've got a very rough idea of what Tiny Empires is. Thank you folks.
Phil Deakins
From what I've read in these forums, Tiny Empires players don't abuse sim resources - not even when there are 15 of their alts/bots in a sim. It's down to what is considered to be abuse of sim resources, and 15 avatars in a sim isn't an abuse, imo, unless there are many other avs in the same sim.
