GOAL: I really want to see the unique creations have built with my build kits. It is something important to me, I want to see the impact (if any) I am having on peoples ability to be able to create new things, easier.

Most of us who are familiar with Second Life know one of the most effective ways for a person to get the word out there is by who they know, and who that person knows, word of mouth.

But what about other ways, beyond simply making a flickr which you pelt constantly with photos, having a blog which is a huge time investment to maintain or etc.

I have been trying to promote a contest http://www.fe-energy.com/#!__contest . Where I am paying out over 50,000L$ to just try to get part of the over 25,000 customers I have to submit their creations using my content kits.

Before this time I have lacked the tools which would really allow me to form a community as I would like, and now that I do, I am faced with a daunting tasks of trying to reach out to over 25,000 individuals across SL who own/use one of my products.

Methods I am trying:

  1. Word of mouth.
  2. Advertising with blogs.
  3. Flickr & Flickr Groups.
  4. Facebook & Twitter
  5. Contacting builders groups for help with promotion like Builders Brewery.
  6. Offered incentives for bloggers
  7. Tried hiring a PR/Advertising and Marketing person for the store.
  8. Started up a community portal for my customers - http://getsatisfaction.com/fe-energy

I feel like I am missing something important, I know that getting people to notice a community project, event or anything in SL is always an uphill battle until you reach the top. However right now this hill feels as if it was made by MC Esher.

I would really appreciate inputs here, even if they may be negative or you need to slap me upside the noggin and say hey "DUH!!!" why didn't you do this?

Also if you haven't already, please stop by my shop, pick up a couple of freebie sculpt kits I have if you enjoy creating, I would love to have your feedback - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/44385

I look forward to all your responses and replies,

Failed Inventor
