Earn real money in Second Life

Question

I am currently unemployed due to the recent layoffs. I am interested in earning real money through Second Life. How does this game allow players to earn real money? I am only aware of earning L$ in Second Life through fishing, collecting gold coins, and completing tasks in Portal Park. However, I am unfamiliar with the process of converting L$ to USD and the associated requirements. Could you please provide some guidance?

If you plan on making the kind of money that pays the bills (or at least groceries), you'll probably want to focus on just service/commission work. (In which case you could just invoice them through PayPal and avoid the LL fees.)

I can't imagine any amount of games in SL (especially Portal Park) would get you enough lindens to cash out anything meaningful per week/month.

Content creation is an option, but it takes significantly longer to build a store, let alone finding traction.

What Wulfie said. I'll say it even more bluntly:

If you are unemployed, then finding a Real Life job has just become your full time job. Don't waste time playing SL. Polish up your brag sheet and hit the pavement. If you cannot find a job in your preferred occupation, try others. The holiday season is upon us, and stores everywhere are looking for temporary help. Take one of those jobs if nothing else is available, and keep looking for a permanent job every spare minute.
