how can i change my Avatar please?

Change it to what?  You can modify your avatar very easily by going into Appearance mode and playing with the various sliders, or you can drag/drop a new shape and skin onto your avatar from your inventory (there are several choices in the Library  >> Clothing folder).  Read more about appearance here >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Editing-your-appearance/ta-p/700709 .

In your Inventory is a Library Folder. In there are complete avatar's and outfits. Drag the outfit  folder you want to wear onto your Avatar or click on the folder and wear.

In addition, you will want to be logged in in advanced mode, not basic. It is on the log in screen under mode.
