Relax for goodness sake. Sims go offline for various reasons, being restarted or for maintenance. Linden Lab do rolling restarts every Wednesday too.

Give it a while and try again.

The Lindens have been doing scheduled rolling restarts of the RC servers today, so your sim may be off line temporarily.  Wait a little bit and it should be back up again.

As others in this thread have said, there is weekly scheduled maintenance taking place, and it could be that your sim has gone temporarily offline because of this.

If you do not own the sim, but are renting a chunk of land from someone, you can try contacting the landowner.  Sometimes estate managers/sim owners temporarily deny access to all while they carry out their own maintenance, and occasionally they forget to alter the settings back.  They might need a nudge from you.

No, it is NOT usual for a sim to be offline for an hour.

Any time you experience an offline region you should go ahead and file a region offline ticket.

The Lindens respond to those very quickly, usually within 15 minutes.
