online friends list does not load on start

when I log into my account the viewer doesn't load friends who are logged on.  I'm using Firestorm.  What should I do to fix this?

Yeah, it's a known problem that seems to be very difficult to fix. Some clues on this forums post, ink still wet. (I'm not super confident about the cache-flushing workaround mentioned there, but according to some it might help temporarily.)

I imagine that deleting the cache has very little to do with fixing the problem. Just relogging is probably enough!
