No, but it's very smart to. After all, you need a backup somewhere.  Besides, when the Marketplace development team finally releases the new system, items will be delivered from your inventory instead of Magic Boxes, so you'll need to have them there then.

Not sure why you would not keep a copy in your inventory or at least in some other inventory storage system. As the old saying goes "don`t keep all your eggs in one basket".
