Some time back, marketplace changes were made, and for a brief amount of time you couldn't search for store names in the main search. It appears that bug is back.

For example, if you search for Dust Bunny, it doesn't turn up any of that stores products. Of course you can search the Merchants/Stores tab, but not the main tab.

As per LL blog post, use quotation marks around the name..."Dust Bunny" .  I specified No Limited Quantity also since there are a lot of gachas.

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?utf8=✓&search[layout]=gallery&search[category_id]=&search[sort]=&search[per_page]=96&search[keywords]="Dust+Bunny"&search[price_low]=&search[price_high]=&search[land_impact_low]=&search[land_impact_high]=&search[copy_permission]=0&search[modify_permission]=0&search[transfer_permission]=0&search[limited_quantities]=0&search[limited_quantities]=1&search[is_demo]=0

It's crazy to me that we need to try this hard to find specific products now. I'm not sure why LL thought we needed to see massive, sweeping results of everything under the sun when we make a search. It's made the marketplace such a hassle to use now if you know what you want but not quite where to find it.

What LL always fails to understand is...very few people will even bother reading their blog posts.  The vast majority will wonder why typing in Dust Bunny won't work without the " ".

If they had been smart, instead of angering people for over 2 weeks, they could have posted a flag on the MP letting people know that as of such and such a date, the MP will be closed for a long needed update.  They could have spent that time implementing things, testing them, redoing what needed redone, etc.

Working on that car while it's running down the road is just a recipe for disaster, IMO.

Honestly. They also seem not to understand that a TON of people on SL could barely use the marketplace to begin with because of tech literacy issues. Now that more skill and precision is required to get specific results, it would not surprise me to see marketplace sales drop.

Despite all the issues, this one is actually intentional.

Personally I'm happy that they're finally excluding store names from product search, because often a store will call itself something that I'm searching for, without actually having any relevant products.

"Kemono Island" comes to mind as an old example, that store will list dozens of skins that'll show up while I'm trying to search for skins for the Kemono avatar.

Similarly, if I'm looking for bunny products, I wouldn't want every store called "bunny" to show up with whatever products they're selling.

would be better that if you write something on search should be like you already quoted: example if i write BAMSE-gym 001 rare , i expect that return BAMSE-gym 001 rare  without using quotes, a lot of people don t know about quotes or operators, and is an old method

Sure, but I'm not talking about specific searches like that. If I were to search for gym, I wouldn't want to see products from a store called GYM which sells airplanes.

I recall both sides in my own searches:  Times I wanted the owners store more than third-party sellers, and times I did not (usually because the owner of a brand had more inworld than MP).

I ask myself why not just add one more "exclusion" checkboxes, next to demos and Limited Quantities, to not include/remove both "shop names" and "seller names" from the search results.  Then I can invoke it, or not, at every search.  3 seems not too busy/many in that area.

I presume that was considered because it seems an obvious option, but for some reason could not be implemented.

It's right in the middle there and has been for a long time.  This configuration gives SHOPPERS what they asked for; a way to search ITEMS without merchant names and store names contaminating the search for ITEMS because of ITEM NOUNS and ADJECTIVES in their names.
