I've seen videos of people using reshade with Firestorm so decided to give it a go. However I can't save presets because for whatever reason the FS folder won't allow me to take it off read only. Anybody know a fix for this? Not gonna lie it was kind of a piss off to tweak everything out perfectly only to have it poo the bed like this. Anyway thanks in advance mates.😎

If you installed it into the Windows default location for applications (C:\Programs), you will need Administrator priviledges to write into those folders. Try installing it in a different location.

To avoid such a problem, settings overrides (whatever the settings type, i.e. including presets), should go to the user_settings directory (%AppData%/Firestorm/user_settings under Windows)... I.e. Firestorm code needs fixing for this. πŸ˜›

We don't need to fix anything regarding the settings because user settings are already stored underneath the user's AppData folder. If hoewever the OP tries to dump files into the installation folder (or this Reshade thing does), then he needs to make sure to install it where the Windows UAC doesn't interfere with it!

Nice try though! ;)

Ah, sorry... This is not what I understood... I thought he was trying to save a preset and failing to do so (because the said preset would be overwritten in the installation app_settings folder sub-directory)...

The reason behind this misinterpretation of mine is that it rang a bell in my mind, with an issue I had in the past (I would have to re-check, but I rarely ever boot under Windoze, so...), where Firestorm failed to remember an override for the Rear camera preset (I hate the ”look at the ground” default, and always change the Z offset to 0.0 so that my camera looks straight instead), and I had to change it manually by editing the corresponding preset file in the app_settings/ installation sub-folder...

Not trying anything else than to help and diagnose issues... Honi soit qui mal y pense ! :P

I tried that and I do have admin privileges. I even moved the folder to my downloads folder just to change permissions and it still doesn't change. So it doesn't really matter because even with admin it still resets regardless of where I place it at. I was just wondering if there was a fix for that because I've never had a folder not let me change permissions on it until now. It's all good. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

You actually nailed it. I didn't realize I could switch preset locations on it. I thought it had to be in the same place reshade was installed at. So I did like you said and set it to there in a ReshadePresets folder I created there for it specifically for that. I'm rock'em sock'em and good to go now. Thank you oh so very much. I really do appreciate it. You saved me a big huge headache with this one. lolπŸ‘πŸ˜Ž
