As a long term SL resident one of the biggest challenges I found was finding similar people who just want to socialise.   Sure there's interest specific communities around and things like RP but I never kept interest in those for long.  Last year I discovered cafes and the thriving scene in that.  I found people dropping in all times of  day when event centric places were deserted.  Within a couple of months I'd filled up my friends with people who love chatting and had a ball in it.  I had wanted  this social thing for so long but didn't know what it was or how to find it.   Actually the whole thing impressed me so much I opened my own cafe for something to do.
