Can I wear a Maitreya skin on Freya?

I just got a new head skin and went to the store for the recommended body skin in the style card. No support for Belleza Freya. But I demoed the Maitreya skin and it looks fine from what I can see.

Is there any downside or issue with wearing one skin type for a different body? Or is it pretty much if it looks fine, go ahead?

The only issue I've seen with wearing a BoM skin made for a different body is the navel or nipples might be off by a few pixels. If they support other bodies besides Maitreya I'd check to see if some of them look better or worse on Freya, then pick the one you think is best. Check fingers and toes closely as well.

There are a few standard problem areas where you might notice some differences. Set your windlight/EEP to an even flat light like CalWL or Nam's, zoom in close, and check your hands, fingers, nips and breast shading, belly button, feet, and toes. If you don't notice any glaring shading issues in those areas, and everything else looks okay, go for it.

If your head skin has a neck fade as many do, you might be able to pair it with another store's body skin in Freya, too, depending on the shades. You could try some demos for that as well - just check your neckline very closely.

Yeah, neck fades are worth mentioning. It used to be a "neck fix" meant an ugly ring around your neck but those days are long gone now that heads and bodies attach so nicely. It's just a fade tattoo and it works so well I use one just because I didn't like the matching body skin as much as I like my old non-matching one.

Neck faders are always hit or miss for me. I've considered making my own on an as-needed basis but that's a hassle. My head skin didn't come with a fader, but I have lots of faders from my Freya body, and I think some came with Lelutka. Whichever skin I get, hopefully that'll have some too

the nice thing about a lot of neck fades is, they are usually tintable.. so not too hard to match up..There are some nice ones out there that you can get.. they have a free pack at Velour.. Neck fades are nice also because the neck is usually one of the darker textures and doesn't necessarily match the face or the body but fades to both..

I wear them all the time because I hardly ever wear the body skin that a head skin creator recommends.. I enjoy the freedom they give of not having to be tied to whoever they partnered up with..

Also, for body skins made for a different mesh body.. I'll also wear certain skins I like that are made for a different body, simply because they don't make my bodies version, but the skins will match up for the most part..

The biggest place you will notice the difference is in the toes, more times than anywhere else.. also sometimes in the fingers but that's usually much more rare..

But they do sell caps fixes for those things called caps..like toes caps which are nothing but tattoo's that you can also tint and match up.. I use them on one brand and you can't tell they are even there..

Another place that a skin might not line up is right in the V, which may be a concern.. Sometimes those can look pretty messed up, but they have mesh versions for certain bodies now, so that may be an option also..

And ya sometimes the belly button can be off, but most times I have ever noticed that is with a tummy piercing, which you can pretty much use an unrigged one and just move it to where you need it to be..

I often wear my Freya body with a Maitreya skin and forget that they don't fit perfectly. It's only when I take off my shoes or go to wear sandals that I notice how much difference there is between Maitreya and Belleza feet. Sometimes a foot fix helps, but then that could show a skin tone difference at the ankle or just above the ankle . I think it's best to wear a Belleza body skin if possible, then match your face skins to your body. My Nuve face skins seem to have a neck fade built into them. More face skin makers should do the same, imo.

It could work, but like others have said you might see some jank around the toes and possibly the breasts. You can fix the toes with a toe fix. They have them cheap at Izzies and on MP. You just pick the one closest to your skin tone and tint if necessary.

The breasts could be a problem. I’m not sure if there is a breast fix, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is.

Velour is actually where I was getting the skin from haha, so that's super good to know. I'll go back there and check that out, just in case they're any different from the ones that came with the skin itself.

Not a lot of noticeable difference really, unless you're camming in really close.

I wear the same skin on all my bodies (Maitreya, Freya, Erika and Reborn) and the only difference I've noticed is that the position of the bellybutton doesn't always match up between one body and another. I made the skin myself, and the difference isn't noteworthy enough for me to bother making a fresh skin with a repositioned bellybutton for each body.

I just checked all of my bodies to compare - my skin has the bellybutton in exactly the right place for Freya and Reborn, on Maitreya it's slightly too high, and on Erika it's too low. So if you have a Maitreya skin, the bellybutton will appear a bit too low  on the Freya body. But the difference is tiny.
