Embarassing Question - How do I let my Alt "Set Home to Here" on my Mainland?

My alt gets the message, "You can only set your 'Home Location' at your land, or at a mainland infohub".  

Is it not possible without creating a group, deeding the land to the group, joining my Alt to the group, etc.?

You can "set" the land to a group, without having to deed it. If your alt is a member of the group and their role allows it, they can then set Home to the parcel, and rez objects there.

You need to create a group and put your alt in the group, but you do not need to deed the land to the group only set it to the group. The alt will need the group tag active though, if you have it set instead of deeded.

If it doesn't take right away, sometimes teleporting away  and then back or a relog  can fix it.. I had a couple that for some reason I had to do that after they were put in the group.

If I understand, my Alt will only be able to "set home" if the group is active, but once her Home is set, it should work even if the group is not active..? 

Will try it hopefully today, now that I found the replies to my question!

Yes Love, that's how I understand it. I have an alt whose home is set on my parcel, and regardless of her active group, teleporting home takes her to home.

Ok, I forgot that I already had a group, and my alt (LoveXiaoying) was already in it! 

Too, much time passes between changes..

For style points, you ought to be able to set the land to a group you and your alt share -set the alt's home point, and then remove the group from the land.

Your alt will still have that set as their home point (though won't be able to rez etc) but stalker types won't see the group when they do "about:land".

I haven't tried this in a couple of years, but it worked then...

Yes that's right. You can even boot her out of the group afterwards, if you want, and it will still work. But she won't be able to rez anything, if you do that.

Now that you mention Rezzing..

She didn't try to rez anything yet on this new land.  I looked for "Can rez objects" rights in the group but didn't see it..

Since it's an existing group from previous lands, I am sure she will be able to rez without changing the group rights.  Maybe I'll try it today.

In your Groups >> Roles section, scroll down to see  "Always allow 'Create Objects' ":

Check (or uncheck) that box as needed for the role you're interested in.

A few words of warning . . .  Many years ago I deeded some land owned in my name to my group and immediately all my objects including my home disappeared, before my eyes.  So you need to be doubly sure of permissions regarding your own objects if you deed YOUR land to YOUR group!  As far as I know nothing's changed regarding group land since then, so it could still happen today.

Luckily, no deeding is involved with my current process: just "Set" the land to a Group.
