Artorius Constantine
I have no issues with these changes at all and am happy to save $4 a month. That said I would still; like to see lower steps in the tier system. I would have expanded my holdings a few times if I could do it without doubling my expenses. I had to buy more land than I could have and cut it up then abandon the extra. That makes no sense at all. I had to pay for it then give it away or double my tier for another 700 sq. just to fill my tier. Fortunately the seller did it for me before purchase so I didn't get stuck with double tier for a 30 second ownership over my current tier. LL would make more money from me if I didn't have to jump so high in one step.

Sid Nagy
At the moment I'm not really interested in any plan, more in downgrading as much as possible. I experience a hopefully temporary lack of interest in SL. But in general I think it is good that LL launches more plans for specific groups of users.

Like making it easier for people other than land barons to have desirable parcels of Mainland by making it against the rules to buy up huge amounts of land and lease it out. It doesn't seem like a thing the Lindens are likely to do, but it's an interesting proposal. Possibly relatedly, this does seem to be like a neat fix for the people who want Adult residences. I suspect LL doesn't want to fix things, and they're totally fine with parcels sitting empty, for sale for ridiculous prices, as long as some land baron is paying for it. LL worked themselves into a corner- they can't reduce prices on land for normal people without adding new rules/regulations because this sort of thing will get infinitely worse, and they can't increase prices for those massive land barons that get their special multi-region prices because then they'll lose their income. Who from Linden Labs are posting in General? I do not know who to poke. So if LL find a loophole for VAT on tier, it is suddenly 25% less to pay for me. Maybe that is possible, LL suddenly found a way around paying VAT for subscription on monthly payments. Perhaps land could be called a form for subscription too? It is VAT on tier that kills owning Mainland for me. Tier in general is still very high, even if it is lowered for those who own a lot of land. Those who can pay from 31 US a month. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Second Life Plus Membership Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) : Linden Lab (freshdesk.com) A major reason to say no, is that a Linden Home for 512 m is not included. Maybe LL will change that. Can I get a Linden Home with a Plus membership? No, but... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The low stipend is not enough to make a difference for me. It may for others, of course. I can not see it is access to Premium sandboxes. Maybe LL just forgot to write it. It is very strange if not. What benefits are included with a Plus membership? Plus membership includes: The ability to own mainland, with 512m of land allowance included with the membership A weekly L$ stipend of L$150 An increased number of groups (50, instead of 42 for Basic members) A wider selection of technical ticket types available through Customer Support for non-account and Billing issues ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I get a stipend that's worth 4,99 US, so I am paying LL one dollar per month. Roughly one dollar, for paying annually it is 5,50 per month. For that dollar, I get 8 more groups. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I am so low in finances that it is all I can afford, I may perhaps stop playing SL and read books instead. So much of my fun is about landscaping and interior decorating. 512 m without a house is living SL on a bare minimum. I know I can use only 1-5 Li furniture, 2 Li trees and get a house that is maybe 20-50 Li, but it is so restrictive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is not for me, but will be for many others. ❤️Kudos to LL for listening and offering a low price alternative. They did not hit my needs this time. Oh, I didn't realize you can't get a Linden home with it. That seems odd. I thought their reasoning was to suck up some of those 512s in Bellisseria that maybe don't move as well as the 1024s for the middle class. But, no... So they are encouraging 512s on the mainland? But that should come with a renewed vigourous action against ad farms and prosecution of deliberate view ruination so as to annoy. This forces land prices to normalize to market rates - the market rate being a rate at which someone in the market is willing to pay. If speculators want to hodl they should pay the fees. The Lindens would be better off closing their unfair and non-transparent land auction, the plaything of land barons who deliberately bid to jack up prices for land they don't even take, and who use other tricks to skew the land market too high. They could then sell abandoned land on demand or even price it for what they think they could get for it on demand in world. The disdain for a land market (Philip called it "arbitrage") and the desire to level prices just devalues and crashes the land market needlessly. The socialist Lindens and their fan base want land to be "a bracket to content". But human nature is to make land as land, with a range of values, as has been the case for the millennia, whether location or fertility (traffic in our case) or whatever. And you can't be hasty about removing the land market, which remains a way for the poor and unskilled to obtain equity. They can sell their land and try to get back what they pay. Land sales and to an even greater extent, land rentals, mean that people who can't code or do graphic design have a way to offset the costs of SL or even make part or all of their living. So don't begrudge them that. It takes nothing away from you all in the coder class. You're now free to even get a homestead and never see the unwashed masses who till the soil. I'll be interested to see if there is an uptick of 512 donors in my land groups or uptick of 512 neighbours which I would welcome. Land ownership is generally a good thing in SL. It's what keeps the lights on for the Lindens and gives the wandering peoples of the Internet a home. Frankie Antonioni
Hey Reed Linden, you didn't mention that I had came up with something just like this. It was called Minor Premium. I think that more land than that should be offered for membership. Here is what I propose. Plus=1024 sq. meters of land. Premium=2048 sq. meters of land. Premium Plus= 4096 sq. meters of land. If it was setup like that, then more land would sell. Today, some land in the sim where my store is at, was abandoned. It is now at 40,448 sq. meters. In some sims, the whole sim, or most of the sim is abandoned. Another thing that can be done is to build more roads, and railroads. That could help to sell more land. Also, ask those that own half a sim, or a whole sim if they want a road built in their sim. It may not be possible to build roads in some sims, because somebody may own lots of land if they want a road built. If they do, they could build an urban sim, and have streets connect to the road. So have somebody that works with the land, to talk with the moles, and talk to players that own lots of land. Some may not want a road built on their land. Others might. 3
diamond Marchant
My Name Is Not Mikey But I Like It At least the tier reduction part. I am not a land baron (more the opposite as all my parcels are open to the public) and I have more than 1/8 region so I benefit from tier reduction, YaY! I do think Plus! would be improved if it came with an 512 Linden Home option. Edited November 19, 2022 by diamond Marchant
