how do u add friends while you are offline

Actually you don't add friends.  You send a request to someone to be your friend and they either accept or reject.  I think you can send the request for friendship offline from the new web based profiles although I haven't tested that.  But I don't think the person will receive the friendship request if they are not online so they have no way to accept it offline.

Maybe someone has tested this better than me

Isn't it more personal to send someone a request when you are both online and you have actually chatted first?
