Blender Avastar Issue: Mesh deforms very easily when posing the avatar

Hey all, I'm having trouble with not being able to avoid the avatar mesh deforming when I try to pose an Avatar for SL, and it shows up in Second Life too and it looks really bad.

I attached photos of what the issue is (please ignore the classic body in the avatar screenshots, it was there by mistake, but the problem still persists when the avatar wears the Maitreya mesh body)

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this and how they fixed it?

Aside from the fact that an elbow doesn't bend in that direction, the deformation problem you see is an issue inherently associated to how the mesh body was weighted, so you can't do anything about it, except avoiding those angles when bending a joint
