Hey. Here my problem : I can log without problems on Phoenix Viewer. But i decided to try Viewer two today and it actually let me enter in it only once. Then i get a message saying " DNS could not resolve the host name. Please verify that you can connect to the www.secondlife.com web site. If you can, but continue to receive the error. Please go to the support section and report the problem. "

I am able to connect on the site. I can on Phoenix viewer too..What is the problem ?

Hello Eva. It is a known problem with SL viewer and Macs. At the following link described a solution which seems to work with more people. http://neilrobinson.wordpress.com/2008/05/19/a-fix-for-dns-errors/

You need to add the following additional DNS servers to your DNS settings in Network settings under System Preferences:

208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

If the problem remains try to download another version (older) of Viewer 2. If it works set your your software updates NO to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware)

As you can see at this jira, https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-25627? the problem started with the 2.6.3 edition of Viewer 2. So download an older edition. You can find it here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes

(The older Second Life Viewer versions are still active on the production grid, but are not formally supported by Linden Lab Customer Support).

My problem with viewer 2 predates 2.6.3. As with everyone else, TPV or the 1.x viewers work fine. The problem is that viewer 2 on Mac actively clobbers my DNS connection. I can have Network Utility successfully running a ping to the DNS server and  connect to the world, have the area start to rez, even start to play parcel media. Fairly quickly though, the ping fails, world stops loading, eventually I'll get "logged out of Second Life". In addition, web browsing, email, streaming music and everything else is now broken since there is no DNS service available. It requires a DSL modem reboot to fix.

Occasionally it will work, but the majority of times won't, even with multiple tries. I have tried all the standard fixes, clearing the SL prefs folder, re-installing the viewer, clearing the DNS cache, running alternate "super" DNS addresses like OpenDNS and DNS Advantage, and both the 208 and 8.8.8.8 DNS servers mentioned here.
